Bumpy bumps, surely someone wants (yet another) project? WRX motor had around the same kms as the car, 214k. Hasn't been pits passed. As for money no idea what a half working outback is really worth. I'd like $1200 to pay for a few things but open to offers. If someone wants to wreck it then I'll ca...

Quick summary: - 97 Outback Limited, wrx engine conv, 5mt dr, 210 k kms, reasonable condition overall. - Overheats, nasty little bubbles in the cooling system, ...

Rex-ifying the Outback, full (mostly) standard 2.5 NA motor available with some extra bits. Main issue is the cam seals are leaking so badly the smoke from the dripping oil 'plumed' from under the car... Genuine seals didn't help the old girl so I'd say the cams need sleeved or replaced. Or maybe ju...

Massive thanks to Guy and the 'shed of wonders', turns out I split a clutch fork, and it also turned out that Guy had one. Win! Thanks for all the sage advice and offer Paul, muchly appreciated! Throw out bearing from Subaru ended up being not that much more than from Veales, and a great deal more c...

Clutch reservoir at about half, but the key differentiator is that I can return the pedal manually, push the slave cylinder pin in, and have to use a Jimmy bar to get the clutch fork to return, I can't move it by hand (getting soft apparently). I'm not sure how the push hydro setup differs from the ...

Hey guys, Sooo my clutch decided to die on the weekend (97 Outback), though fortunately just in Perth! < insert photo of Steep Point from the weekend prior > As far as I can tell the clutch fork is jamming 'in'. I've not tinkered with the hydraulic push setup of the Outback before, is this basically...

Chasing a few odds and ends
Sorry I've been a bit quite on here gents. Apparently my tyres weren't up a to good sand (and occasional shrub) thrashing this weekend just gone and I'm down some rubber. Anyone have a set of (nicer) mags and serviceable tyres laying about before I lash out for new rubber? Also the dead spot in my s...

Cheers guys, wasn't going to read that thread/tome at work but did anyway... Appears I only need to lathe the selector ring carrier, already have the other bits modified and ready to go. About time they were used, have been sitting around for years now. No way can I justify spending coin on Scorpion...

I haves me an Outback!
Well, tomorrow, barring some cataclysmic event… Of the ’97 vintage, totally stock, and it’s practically begging for a few scratches and some soft sand. Keen to find some nice unsealed terrain over the weekend and give it a better test drive. Are there any good spots relatively close to Perth? Anyone...

L 1.6 low range into ’97 Outback
Is it possible? Have done a few EA lows into Gen1 DR lib boxes but never Gen2, Which I presume a ’97 Outback is? Pretty sure I’ve read somewhere a long time ago that the gen3 gearboxes can no longer take the L low but Gen2’s are still all good? Just wanted to quickly double check before I strip down...

Hi guys, Have just moved over to Perth and am looking to get back into my Subaru addiction... Unfortunately next weekend I've signed myself up for an open water dive course, so can't make it along. Not that I've a car yet, which brings me too, Chasing a subie wagon, manual, a touch rough around the ...

Granite Flat Spur
Hey Guys, Long way from home (tas), but looking at spending a few days hiking in the Bogong area within the next few weeks and was thinking of heading up via Granite Flat Spur to get close to Cleve Cole (several in the group aren't as fit/keen/silly). What is the track currently like? Just how '4wd'...
