Mine didn't have VDC but I understand from others that it has issues when the auto is removed.

Very Impressive. I did a manual conversion in a Gen 3 Outback years ago and the constant check engine light was a pain. Is a great engine though and i had it hooked up to the same gearbox setup as yours.

Good point El Freddo. If you are using a cable setup and haven't moved the pivot point from a hydraulic setup it will be quite a different leverage. I have converted from cable to hydro on an early Lib box and had to remount the pivot 'ball' to the higher position for it to work, so you may have to ...

Diff Stub
The stub is most likely held in by a torx bolt in the middle. You will need to undo this and it will come out easily. Need a long torx socket, 8mm from memory. Tom remove the remnant from the CV just punch out the pin.

Have you got the same size tyres on all 4 wheels? Sounds like it is binding up, doesn't help if you are engaging 4wd on dry bitumen either. Need some slip as you don't have a centre diff.

Shocks
Not sure on the shocks but the rear torsion bars in the brumby are thicker/stiffer so if anything you would expect the same with the shock rates to cope with a load in the ute.

Old Subarus
Been into them since my Dad bought a brand new 1980 MY, 1600 single range, round headlights. Upgraded to 1800 1982 model later on. My first one was an ugly duck 1978, bought in 1986, learnt lots from that as needed engine rebuild, replacement gearbox etc. Still enjoying the older ones. About to get ...

Diesel Dual Range
Fair points there, it definately likes to pull from 2K revs onwards. Probably better with an auto that has a setup to lock the centre diff.

Wiring
Are you going to be running an EJ? If so why not use a complete Liberty Loom front and rear and adapt your MY Dash to suit it. Much easier than a full rewire.

Diesel Dual Range
I suppose the Torque is up there with the Turbo engines. I have only stripped 2nd on a dual range box behind a turbo engine when towing too heavy a load, otherwise they have held up well with sensible driving. Waiting for someone to retro fit a diesel engine into an early Lib, now that would be an i...

Subi snow shots
We are in the middle of a big snow dump in Tassie at the moment so I went out for a drive today. As my lifted Liberty is out of action due to a dead clutch I had the standard Diesel Forester. With Chains fitted it did a great job, even with snow deep enough that it was almost snow ploughing. http://...

They are the Performance Marquee, should have an alloy disc centre cap to cover the wheel nuts.

You need to wire the negative and positive wires from the relay into the respective wires from the back of one headlight. It is not earthed to the body like early models.

For an EJ AWD in EA cases right? Just want to make sure this is what you're trying to say as you can't mix AWD stuff with PT4wd stuff. Yes use the EA case but put all the gearset from EJ box in and then bolt the viscous centre rear housing on. Would need new Xmember and tailshaft but would make a g...

This could be the answer to your engine sourcing issue. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/north-boambee-valley/engine-engine-parts-transmission/subaru-other-sedan/1080939096 I know some people here who used to rally one of the original 5 RX Turbo's imported in '85. they were forever replacing the dual ...

Here is a beauty. EA82T and looks like they have included the L series cluster in the Brumby dash as part of the wire in. Well conducted conversion.

Yes the L series are a great off road option. I am looking forward to having a road specific Liberty RS soon, they handle well and are a lot of fun.
