Whats Ive Notice is that the black rocker cover EA81's have the wider stud pattern and the blue Have the narower stud pattern. Most adapter plates will fit both.

Sell clean looking EA81 wagon

Hi there all. I have a friend that has a clean looking EA81 wagon up for grabs. He originally tried selling it to me but I have too many vehicles already:D It,s been a few months since I have seen it but it looked very good for it's age. If I remember correctly it was built in 84, has a factory A/C,...

How long did you run it for, I have a EA81 with black rocker covers and hydraulic lifters. I had a big ticking noise after doing the head gaskets, all it was was air in the lifters, Noise disapeared after 15-20 mins. You have to be very careful not to get any junk down the pushrod bores. Try setting...

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff219/bboypebs/gear2.jpg Ok the four speed has a simple straight cut gear which slides between two gears. So there is no slector hub or throw distance issues. And as far as I can tell by diagrams the five speed has the same setup so I might still inherit the same ...

Thought of a Five speed conversion but wouldn't never use top gear.
The five and four speed pinion sharfts are not interchangable.
What I do have in mind is get a wider reverse gear made up.

Took a bit of cutting and shutting to make them fit and a two inch lift blocks.
No slop in the box, I actualy sheared the teeth off the gear it self. So not a good situation.

Hi there. Had the same issue. The treads were worn.
Fixed it by recoiling the threads and new studs with strong loctite.
