$5000 + $2000 seriously.... Sorry to put a damper on the idea but you might be better off thinking of another car that is in better condition mechanically. This car screams "bad move" at me. Get the car checked over before passing any money over. Maybe a liberty would be a better buy or an outback ...

The thing about driving subes is you learn to drive them differently than the larger 4WD's. Different lines,speed and approaches are needed and learning them will make you a better driver off road should you ever change to a bigger 4WD.

You could probably do without the winch straps and tree protector. A good start would be a good quality snatch strap and some rated shackles. You don't need the winching items as not many Subes have a winch. A good bag is handy as well to use as an "air brake" when snatching. I would think you could...
