Hey Coops

I've been watching that one for a while now. The seller doesn't want to organise the courier/post for it though. As I'm moving to western Queensland this weekend to start my job (as a graduate), timing for organising that stuff myself just isn't ideal.

Cheers for the heads up though!

I have to say, having draws is a HUGE convenience when camping/touring! Just recently I spent about 2 weeks touring around northern/central NSW and I set up a couple of those plastic draws that come in a stack of 5 (only used 2). Very handy for cooking stuff, and other small items you need on a regu...

I have looked into the scorpion kit before, but haven't found a price for fitment. I reckon it'd be the way to go though.

But, given that I am about to move to outback qld (Roma) for full time work, a subaxtreme front bar might be the go. Will have to keep track of the trading post...

Come to think of it, the damage does look like hitting the rocks at speed. It was a great day for it - both drivers were relatively new to offroading/sand, so a nice intro day. I found that the lower part of my front bar filled up with sand very quickly, but didn't seem to affect cooling. In places ...

Trip Report

G'day Thanks for the tips everyone, it turned out to be a great day for a burn up the beach. It did rain pretty hard on the way up, and for about 10min whilst on the beach, but apart from that it was fine. The extra moisture in the sand helped no doubt. Beach access at the 1st cutting. We both aired...

Thanks alot for the pics! Nice campsite, and very nice looking subi - it looks very at home on the sand. Looks like there's still plenty of beach there around low tide - maybe not compared to what it usually is like though... I'll be posting a few pics, and maybe a bit of a trip report too. Might he...

That would be very much appreciated Xtreme_RX! Its been about 10 years since I've been up there last, and what little I do remember would be rather out of date :)

You guys trying to scare me? :p

I'm heading up there this weekend, in my unlifted gen 3 outback for a play (see general chat). Will have an assortment of recovery gear though, including a companion vehicle!

Ah, cheers for the reply. That's reassuring to hear. Hopefully I don't cause too much of a nuisance for other travelers if I do get stuck, but I have the recovery gear ready to go. I'll have a good idea of the outback's capabilities when I first get onto the beach by the sounds of it, before I even ...

First sand run this weekend - report and pics

Hi Everyone I've owned my gen 3 outback for about 6 months or so, and would like to go for a beach run up around Rainbow/Teewah beach for some sand experience this weekend. Planned itinerary would be something like driving up to Tewantin and getting on the beach at the 1st or 3rd cutting, driving up...

On a different note, I found a vid showing an Outback being rescued from the waves on Teewah Beach. Its about 2min into the clip.

My '99 outback with close to 200,000km on her still gets as good fuel consumption as my old gemini wagon (modded).

7.8L/100km highway, 8.5L/100km town, 9.4L/100km towing 5 canoes

Cheers,

Sounds like others who have had leaking problems have all been from the tailgate - but is anyone aware of leaks from the taillights that aren't on the tailgate? I've got time this weekend to pull all the rear lights off, clean them and (hopefully) seal them up. I'll take a few snaps with the digi ca...

I'm still reasonably new to the subaru scene since buying a 99 outback about 3 months ago. I have not looked back to my 'ol gemini wagon! (which I loved to pieces) Just last week 5 of us took it from Brisbane down to coffs harbour to do a canyoning trip in the hills. Even loaded up with all our stuf...

You can't pick on the wording as it would have been written by an engineer, and most of them are practically illiterate ( joking! ) lol - engineer stereotypes can be quite accurate at times! They try to teach engineers how to communicate while they're at uni these days. Time will tell if this can e...

pftt ideal gas law .. find me an ideal gas.. i think the phrase the air will heat up is correct as the pressure is being increase (this takes energy to do this). They did indeed use 'the air will heat up' as the correct answer. Technically, they should have said the temperature will increase instea...

90% I suspect the test is bs though, as one of my questions didn't even have the correct answer as an option: Q46 "Rapidly compressing air and raising its pressure will have what effect?" A - air will cool B - air will heat up C - no effect on temperature First of all, they are saying the same thing...

Sounds like a plan :)

I'll let you know if and when it happens!

Which suburb of Brissie are you from? A bit of an exploratory trip around the tracks near the glass house mountains would be much more possible in the foreseeable future!

Cheers,

So maybe the outback is a little more capable than I give it credit for. I'm not planning on driving over there, but now that I have the outback I'm more aware of what kinds of vehicles I see off road. Apart from a couple of suzukis and a single RAV4, it was only large 4x4s on the island that I saw!...

Moreton Island on the weekend

Gday everyone I've just got back from a 3 day hike around the northern end of Moreton Island, and it got me thinking as to the capabilities of my unlifted gen 3 outback. Some sections of the Bulwer-Blue Lagoon road looked like I'd belly out on the soft sand and bring me to a halt. Has anyone on this...
