what really scared me when i saw the pics was that having been a professional firefighter/spotter for nearly 8 years is that ive seen people killed in far less severe accidents

as i havent had a chance to inspect it personally as yet im not sure but the lift is certificated as being fitted by Subaru at the time of purchase

It's not Subaru, but an ex cabbie that I know did 1 million km's on the original 308 in his Commodore and at last count from him the car has around 3.7 million k's on it on about another 4 engines since the original, and he's still using it as his daily driver to work!! Not normally, but you rear tyres will wear a lot quicker, they will scrub a little to release the bind. You'd certainly feel it on tight turning. Also (unlikely) is the box the same gear ratio as the rear diff, and are all the tyres the same size? Really does sound like a selector issue here. no id...

i hate to say it but it sounds to me as if youve gotten something wrong when you rebuilt it, could be the sound of something coming loose

the 4wd lever will not move as in it seems to be pretty rigidly stuck there, is it possible for the spanner monkey who put the box in to have buggered up the re fitment of the linkage and jammed it?
