Check Engine light

Hi, A mate of mine was looking at a 93 liberty but the check engine light and the ABS light was on all the time we test drove it. The guy says this has been light that since he's had it and hasn't affected the running of the car. The car went well, but I'm a bit worried. He also said he's taken it t...

Hot wiring EA82T L-series

Hey, After 4 months of sitting in a garage, the car won't start. All electrics work, and battery charged up. No sound coming from the starter, but belting it with a BFH didn't do the trick. I'm thinking it may be the ignition, as I've had problems like this in an MY. When this happened, I ran a wire...

Changing oil pump - crap

Cut up 2 gaskets getting the oil pump back on whilst wiggling it in. Second time I was extra careful. Any hints or tricks. Engines an EA82T and still in the car, with radiator already pulled out.

do it - do not wait any longer

Did it and was glad from the start. Although it only gave me less about 500revs for the same speed. But it is soooo much more drivable. I had the 3spd auto. I was able to find a 3.7 diff at the wreckers, but then later I bought a LSD from Shawn in NZ. It all works a treat... Wiring is not too tricky...

Sherpa at Pick and Payless

If anyones interested, there's a Sherpa in the back lot. The engine looks very clean and it appears complete. Its still got lots of parts inside as well. Don't know how long it's been there. I was there to pull of the centre timing cover off a car. They are starting to get very dismal in the older L...

You can get them through Repco, but they'll probably have to get them in for you, and wait a couple of weeks.

Dont bother with Autotechnica

I went through this about half a year ago. I tried 2 types from Autotechnica and both no good. Go the Saas kit.

Saas kit availability

Spoke to Repco in Liverpool, NSW today. He said it's on back order and won't be in until 3-4 weeks. He can't order it in to the store unless he has a deposit, so I'm going in on Saturday and order it then ($89). Patiently waiting twiddling my thumbs. Thing is, I had a Liberty steering wheel which I ...

Getting a saas

Thanks for the information. Been heaps busy and haven't even been able to go back and get my refund for 3 weeks. But got my money back from Supacheap, and went to Repco and ordered the Saas kit. Get confirmation tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

L series boss kit

Arrghh... Been stuffed around twice with trying to get a Boss kit for my car. Its an 86 touring wagon. Does anyone know the right code for the Autotecnica Boss kits. First one I got was 907. The splines seemed right, but didn't want to go on the steering shaft (couldn't even force it down). Second o...

boss kits

I didn't know there were Boss kits for L series. I thought they were only for more the popular cars or widely available cars.

Thanks for that. I'll look around for one - didn't want to make a home-brand looking wheel as insurance gets stroppy if you play around with the steering.

Flywheel bolts

Does anyone have a spare set of 8 bolts to bolt up a flywheel for the manual box. I was given the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate and didn't realise the bolts are shorter for the auto box. I've pulled out the auto box which has been planned for the last 6 months, and with the auto out, have come...

Sorry, I forgot to add that it wasn't part of the wiring for the pedal box. It was actually part of all the wiring that sits under the dash. It was just very loose and I had clipped it with my hand and it pulled out.

What is this wire for

Started working on the auto to manual conversion on the weekend and whilst playing around with the pedal box I pulled off a very thin black wire. The wire had come apart at the solder. What is this wire for. I assume it can't be for much as it is almost hair thin and wouldn't take much current. The ...

I have a feeling that for the auto, the reverse light comes on when you shift it to reverse on the stick. So it's not actually on the box, it's on the console. But with the manual box, the switch is on the box itself. The thing is, do I wire it from the console, or is there something on the box. If ...

Similar thing happened to me with my old MY. But I had sheared the bolt. Check inside the hole with a torch to see if they haven't sheared and there's enough thread. Exhaust place just drilled them out and helicoiled new ones in. Never had a problem after that

What's the best way to wire up the reverse light switch when changing boxes from 3spd auto to the 5sp d/r box. Need advice.

Thanks

reverse light switch

Thanks for that. OK, so that's the 3 wires answered. I wanted to be able to get the wheels appearing on the dash for when I'm in 4wd, so now I can wire it up correctly. Am I right in saying that if I want the reverse lights to come on, I need to wire this from the shifter wiring to the wiring on the...

EA82 3AT gearbox wires

Similar question as the other post for the dr 4wd box. On the 3 spd auto box, there are 3 sets of cables for the gearbox. One of them is the kickdown solenoid, and I'm guessing one is the 4wd solenoid (but I think this comes down from the gear lever). But what is the 3rd one. Hard to follow everythi...
