Wel I cleaned up the throttle body and no change, I cleaned up a different throttle body and then fitted it, and still no change. I think we can eliminate the throttle body. Yes I can tell that the miss is there at 1500 or 2000rpm but is very slight, much more promenant at idle. It must be injectors...

Rarely would stall but the miss at idle is that promonant its like a dodgy lead but fine under load, you could raise the rev's in neutural and could tell that it was still there when it flattened out. Un-noticable under load. Have now run another can of Upper Engine Cleaner through but still have th...

Know what your saying, but they use it on every service as directed on the can and so do Subaru and they reckon that it is very rare that they have problems with injectors. I was convenced on getting the ultra sonic cleaning and new seals its just for the small cost of a can I gave it go, and I am v...

My guess is one of the sensors, O2 or Air Flo. Had a similar fault and it was the O2 sensor on the Catalitic Converter.

Stopped in at Sunspares Subaru at Yandina, Qld today to get a replacement Air Cond thermo fan as the old one is dead. I asked them about the injector cleaning and they said they have never had to have this done and that they just use a can of genuine Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner. So I purchased a can...

Thanks for that, Im going to take it into someone next week who does ultra sonic injector cleaning and testing, they also have a scan tool to make sure the computer is happy. I have now changed the leads and that confirmed that it was'nt them, but I am confident now that it is dirty injectors as it ...

Coil Pack was new about 18months ago with leads. I have unplugged the injectors one by one but think I need to spend some more time testing as I did suspect a smoother 3 cylinder fire with on one injector. I have alway's replaced parts with new ones if available, reconditioned the heads becouse they...

EJ22 Missing at idle

The last month my EJ22 has been gradually getting a miss at idle, I though it was leaky and tired heads, so I replaced the heads with reconditioned ones. It runs well with more power but the missing at has not gone. I have measured the spark leads and they tested fine but I have some new ones on ord...

You need a multi meter or voltage metre to check the battery voltage and then the supply at the lights, with the car running and the lights on, you need minimum 12v but it is possible to obtain the battery voltage level as 13v will give you a much better light My battery holds 13.2v and gets 14v fro...

Thanks again.

EJ22 Timing Belt

Having trouble getting the timing marks to be precise, once fitted and I rotate the crank manualy to get the belt to settle in, one of the cam pullies is out by half a tooth. This belt has done about 50,000k but I remember that I noticed this when it was new. And it looks in good shape. ? Are some t...

I took the gearbox to the transmision shop which reconditioned it and they removed the shaft and refitted it. I did not know that the shaft could be pulled out completely and was concerned I would damage it.

However it is all sorted now.

Thanks for the advise.

No problems with the oil pump shaft (tube thing that plugs into the converter) it is the centre spline (input shaft) that is pulled out approx 20mm. Looking at the downloadable service manual it is true that there is a spring pin located through the shaft inside the box. The drive shaft is hollow an...

Liberty Auto Transmision input shaft

The imput shaft on the gearbox which the torque converter fits onto has pulled out when the engine was removed.

Problem is I can't push it back in, I have tried with rag and vise grips but no success.

Any ideas???
