Cut the guts out of the of the old one then refit it.

My guess is one of the sensors, O2 or Air Flo. Had a similar fault and it was the O2 sensor on the Catalitic Converter.

Your instruction are spot on and as you said sweet the first go. The timing marks where faided so I counted out the teeth as it described in the book to double check.

I took the gearbox to the transmision shop which reconditioned it and they removed the shaft and refitted it. I did not know that the shaft could be pulled out completely and was concerned I would damage it.

However it is all sorted now.

OK Sounds like I need to drop the box so that I can rotate it. I am unable to refit the shaft as it is now.

I am asuming the gearbox needs to come out and apart for this?

The imput shaft on the gearbox which the torque converter fits onto has pulled out when the engine was removed.

Problem is I can't push it back in, I have tried with rag and vise grips but no success.

Any ideas???

It there a make of head gasket that stands out from the others, and what would I gain from using a better quality gasket?
