On my various subies (L Touring Wag, G2 lib, G3 Lib twin turbo and now 07 H6 Outback), and the other 3 or 4 ive played with I've quite often seen low to mid 13's at idle but always hit just over 14 with a tickle of the throttle.

Dunno if they are all the same but when I converted my 85 Touring wagon from auto to manual I had to change the rear diff as well as they didn't match.

My understanding is that the solenoid isn't up to scratch for regular/permanent use and will eventually burn out. Really only designed for temporary use. This came from somewhere on the net though, not my experience so take it with a grain of salt
