A Scangauge in my parents' Gen3 H6 Outback pretty much always shows coolant temps at 88-91C when cruising, and only a few degrees more when pushing hard, in traffic etc. Starting with the basics, are your radiator, heads, water pump all in good nick? Dane. Mmmm, interesting. My Scangauge shows 95 a...

I moved into a cheap rental about 12 months ago, came with a scale stained dunny. In my case its mineral deposits, it grows on every tap outlet, clogs the shower rose etc. My dunny is now as white as non pissed on snow. The old cheese put me onto plain old vinegar, and it just dissolved the scale aw...

My L was an 85 touring wagon and it went a lot better than any 81 ive driven. I dunno what they did to the unleaded ones but my "proper" petrol one was a ripper :D Ran like crap on ULP but as long as you put fuel with decent octane in it it went bloody well, flogged it mercilessly all thro...

I had one of those with the probe poked thru the hose between the throttle body and intercooler on my B4, reading intake air temp after turbos and intercooler. Worked really well in that application. I also had a cheap Speco temp gauge with the sensor mounted in one of those alloy temp sender "pipes...

That is a very lucky escape, that last photo is a bit disturbing. Quite a bit of roof collapse right at the drivers seat! In my experience there is no worse feeling than that few seconds after you come to rest after a prang before you get out of the car. Take it easy for a few days, thats a fairly d...

Vidler's Forester is almost the same thing as yours isn't it Dave? Albeit alot newer but it should have relatively similar power. Might also be a good test to get him to drag the camper around the streets abit and see how it goes. Dont forget the GT Forester got a detuned rex drive line whereas the...

Dont forget the GT Forester is the lowest powered EJ20t that was ever produced, but it still doesn't sound right. How big is the tranny cooler? It could be putting out a lot of heat and blocking a lot of air from the radiator at the same time if its really big. Have ya had a look on http://www.ozfoz...

I was thinking 302 windsor. Not sure how hard, or even if it can be done to put the ea82 box behind it. To be blunt, No. Open the bonnet of any Subaru and look at were the gearbox ends and the motor starts. To fit a 302 in front of the original gearbox it would stick a foot out the front of the gri...

I spent a couple years regularly winding mine out to redline (6 or 6.5?, cant really remember) and i thought it pulled fairly well at high revs, hence why i kept doing it:D Mine was a red blooded super version from 85 though, dont know if the unleaded version had any changes that reduced top end pow...

OK, here is my new plan. Variation on your system, run the original acc feed into the normally closed terminal of a nc/com/no relay and the feed to the accessories out of the com terminal. Then a feed from the second batt into the normally open terminal and a switch powered from the second batt to e...
