i lurk around from time to time..... you never really leave my wrx swapped impreza got moved on after AFM issues, turns out a 98 model is a unique model and there was only one new AFM in the country.... in Sydney for $1000+ got lucky from a import wrecker after many others laughed at my predicament....

took a gamble, slapped it in.... no binding or funny business, so the ratio must be the same.

now i need to track down a mysterious sound under load, like a heat shield touching the tail shaft or brake backing plate touching some where.... i hate working on friends cars.

Quick question, both cars are 2000 year.
Ones an outback the other a standard liberty, both duel range manual.

Will the gearboxes be the same ratio, in getting confused reading the stickers.
One is H9-TY574XFADA
The other 55-TY574XF** (BAA I think)

If new plugs and leads don't work I'd be looking at the injector seals as Nubaru has mentioned. I'm leaning towards o2 sensor. I went to the rear when it was idle chasing, it was really rich while hunting and the problem gets worse the warmer it gets. Is that a trate of a o2 sensor on the way out?

It's reoccurred again but not as bad, I tightened some intake hoses and replaced some vac lines. Gave me a slight bump on the vac gauge (in a good way). Found a few more leaks, tightened seems alright atm.

I've had a faulty/dirty afm in the past, completely different feeling. The motor is strong so I don't think compression issue. idle air controller might be something to look at. Just pressure tested it again, found some more slight leaks. Nothing major, tightened the clamps. We'll see if that fixes ...
