Re: Fitting a weber
Redline has an adapter for that manifold (no modifications required). It's the 99004-110. The 112 isn't even mentioned on the US Redline site. Must be an Australia only thing. I believe the spacer is to insulate the carb from the manifold. The original carb has one also. As to height, the two spacer...

Re: time for a new alternator - which one?
Yeah, coil (aftermarket) took out the dizzy. I was completing overtaking a truck and pop it went. Just enough time to pull in front and pull over lest be stuck in the wrong lane. Ended up getting trucked back to Adelaide from Naracoorte. Thankyou Naracoorte Holden and RACV roadside assist :) First t...

Re: Fitting a weber
There are two different sizes of adapter. Early EA81 and late EA81. Which was yours? My adapter for early model was solid. The adapter for late model for me was a two piece. Both were redline adapters. You need to add a phenolic spacer to increase the carb height. I have two 4 or 5mm spacers (+gaske...

Re: time for a new alternator - which one?
I have used a nissan alternator before. Used the pully of the old alternator. From memory (15y ago) I had to drill the pair of mounting points slightly larger (bugger all) to get the long bolt to fit through. I also required a spacer on the alternater shaft to line up the belt correctly. I've stripp...

Re: Brumby/Leone Power Steering Replacement
Thanks for the tip. I had already talked to OG. Spare parts guy at Jarvis recommended them also. I was worried about having to source another PS unit if mine was not good while sitting at their shop, but they said worse case they can get the shafts chromed. If that was required then the added cost p...

Re: Brumby/Leone Power Steering Replacement
This might help work out what you need. I haven't gone through it closely yet. Not enough for me to attempt the repair myself yet anyway.

Re: Brumby/Leone Power Steering Replacement
The local shop quoted 130 for seal kit. So did jarvis Subaru. Jarvis said there are none in the country but could get some from Japan, possibly 2-3 months. Just a note, Jarvis said they will not give out part numbers. Looking at the Service Manual (supplement has AU RHD PS teardown) the seals were o...

Brumby/Leone Power Steering Replacement
Hi, Have a 1983 Leone Sedan with power steering (fitted with new boots 12y ago from donor 83 wagon). Only done 70000km since then nearly all tarmac driving and been garaged/carported during that time. Noticed an oil leak under the car and it turns out to be a split drivers side steering boot with fl...

I had a similar problem but not quite as bad (84 Wagon). Dying up hills and when open throttle. Was the fuel pump for me. It still worked but just not enought to go anymore. Because it was still working I went ahead and changed filters, rebuilt carb etc before i realised that it was the fuel pump. N...

I had the electric choke. I used the +pos from the idle cut off solenoid on the hitachi( to ground through the carb). Current passes through a resistive element in the white/black cap which inturn heats up the spring and reduces the pre tension on the choke butterflies. Took a while to set up, can't...

I've got an 89 brumby with the same problem as you described but mine makes a vibration noise when it happens like a worn bearing. It feels like it's losing power but last time it happened I gave the engine a good rev and it revs well but the car doesn't speed up, so i thought it might be clutch. Th...

I had a fuel pump die on me once, but mine idled fine. It just used to cough and stutter going uphills, and when heavy on the throttle. It just didn't flow enough anymore. I rebuilt my carby before I worked that out. If its not idling because of the fuel pump it would have to be virtually not flowin...
