OK I spoke to the woman I bought the car from and she says " the engine is just tired and takes a while to warm up. It needs the filters replaced to give it back its performance " I think she means the lifters !! So it looks like it will get me home as it is but I may be towing a small trailer with ...

I think the biggest advantages come from buying in the east when you are from the west - or vice-versa. Even though you need to add $1000-1200 for freight there are some cars that are just so much cheaper from one side of the country to another. RS Liberty's and Brumby's are generally cheaper in WA....

Yeah I rang the ad Friday arvo - I must have been the first caller - and said I would buy it. I rang her on Staurday to finalise the details and she said her phone had been running hot. She was gobsmacked when she found out I was paying over a thousand dollars to get a $600 car freighted to WA. She ...

Where abouts over east? there are plenty of us over this side as well. But personally I don't think 1300ks is that far for a brumby I did well over 30 thou in mine with a stuffed head I just bolted new head gaskets on and kept the oil and water up to it! Its in Bensville, near Gosford. Yeah hopeful...

Was that brumby only $600???? Yep - been undercover its whole life apparently. It drives but has 'something' wrong with the engine. Seller was a lady who didn't have a clue about what was wrong with it or what it was worth - she just wanted to get rid of it. Of course I still have to pay $1000 to g...

so the brumby is in east? there are plenty of cheap 81s around, I know of at least 3 in Gin Gin, and they are in Quokka every week. hmmm yeah I could pick one up on my way to Perth. Will have to have a look in the quokka again - never thought of looking for an engine in there - thanks. Although the...

I assume the brumby is in Perth. It is possible to do an engine swap for the same engine in about 3 hours given enough red tops (lagers). I could check it out for you if you like and give an opinion. I WOULD NOT try to drive a dodgy car 130 k let alone 1300. My ea82 died in 100k, started good, died...

Do you want a project or do you want something like Tristan's ute that's mostly done? And can you do body work? i.e. what premium is the immaculate body of no. 3 worth? The dodgy engine might have another 1300 km in it, even if it's burning oil/coolant/chemiweld all the way. Is trailering one of th...

tempting................ maybe I should rephrase my question : I have a choice of 3 Brumby's - 1. 90brumby's car with EJ22 etc - for around $4000 2. Stock standard white brumby with minimal rust, a dented LH front fender and a canopy - $1800 3. Repainted Brumby with immaculate body, brand new racing...
