I think the thought was that the gasses would fill the cylinders differently, more compression, different times etc and my valves and rings being 330k old, I would perhaps cause premature failure.... I'm a bit undecided. I need to perhaps do the oil pump first as I have a leak from that area of the ...

TOD repairs and camshaft thoughts

I have a 335,000k old ea82 carby engine in my L series sportswagon. It runs ok (for an ea82) and doesn't use oil. It has the usual tick of death (TOD) and its been getting to me a bit lately. I'm running a 5w40 synthetic oil, which hasn't made much difference. It normally only ticks when warming up,...

he probably gets a bit bored at times. I try and occupy him as best as I can. Still working on extending the yard so its a bit bigger. We love him to bits and I really don't mind spending some time with him, sometimes he gets a bit much, but on the whole I don't know what we ever did without him. I ...

thank god I don't have a dual mass flywheel/clutch such as the one fitted to ej25 liberty.... I can't remember the exact bill (I replaced the clutch/flywheel that was slipping/faulty with an aftermarket conventional flywheel and clutch kit) and it was not pretty....

I think its going to take some persistance.... going with the smack so he knows its not on. He is a very spoilt dog, but we are planning on him being not too spoilt....

I like the idea of getting a big brown cow to keep him in line...

my smegging dog

any ideas as to how to get the smegging dog to stop barking ALL the time!!! I am going insane. he's 9 months old or so, purebred red cattle dog, he barks territorially, barks for attention, barks to chase things, barks because he's bored. barks to hear his own bark. barks to play, barks to eat. bark...

I know I know.... I looked at the ad, and thought to myself, they aren't as cheap as they are making them out to be to own.... but I suppose in the grand scheme of things, they are pretty cheap...

air injection causes a terrific popping in the exhaust on decelleration. remove the air injection!! or replace the reed valves and adjust float levels/timing etc to minimise it.

mondeos or astras come to mind..... an idler lets go, and the belt gets so slack it flaps around against the timing cover... ball bearings usually fall out the bottom timing cover!! I pulled a toyota 5s-fe in a sdv10r camry apart the other day that had the original belt on it, at 294 thousand km.......

my expandable cv boot tool is scarier!!!! I will get some pics this week. Mine is a pneumatic tool with a whole lot of fingers, you put the dry cv boot on, and it expands it, you slide over, let the tension go, slide the boot off, then pull the tool off... very scary looking tool. I personally think...

I got a new one put on today.... another cheap crappy chinese one. wouldn't say what brand it was. gave me a lecture about how the warranty, even on the boot just installed only is from the date of first purchase. refused to admit that the other boots (cracking badly) had anything wrong with them. the syntrans is a good oil. They take multitrax 75w90 stock, and this is perfectly ok but keep an eye on it and change it when it starts to look scungy. Sometimes oils last a bit longer than their service interval, sometimes they don't last as long, all depending on the vehicle and how its driven an...

the car is a spoilt thing that never goes 4wding, they were aftermarket drive shafts (read: cheap shitty) and apparently they are the same as what repco would sell. I wouldn't be asking for warranty on boots if they had been split by something, but the car does nearly all bitument work, and the boot...

CV boot life expectancy

Just wondering, on a stock standard L series sportswagon, how long should I expect out of a CV boot? I put two driveshafts in the car less than 6 months ago, and less than 5000km ago, brand new items... I have one split boot, and the other three are cracked/perished in appearance as if they are goin...
