Re: AUSubaru

coolman. All about preserving the wealth of information. Not sure it will ever be as vibrant for new content as in the past, everything on Facebook now, but still a good thing.

Re: Monsterwagon 2.0

Hi all, Thought I'd post up a few notes. Fire incident. In the last update I totally forgot to mention about almost losing the entire car in a fire. Towards the end of 2017 I was happy to have the car on display at the very first Subifest and won the award for "best offroad vehicle". The very next w...

Re: The "I wants" thread

Interested to see the roof rack Bennie. I'm keen to sort something bigger out for mine. I have a Rolla one at the moment, which looks great, but I'd like something longer and possibly the "flat" type. I am concerned with weight though - the Rolla one is steel and already pretty damn heavy. Keen to t...

Re: NEW FORUM TEST

I've often thought it would be good to link the two together somehow. There is a lot of valuable input going into Facebook that gets pretty much lost - it's not exactly easy to search back in Facebook groups and find what you want. Likewise there are people who use FB and not forums and vice versa. ...

Re: NEW FORUM TEST

Hello. I am sponsoring and providing hosting services, and also converted the old forum into this new up-to-date platform, which included importing all existing posts, user accounts etc. This forum doesn't have any dependency on Brett. He does still has an old copy of the old forum running (which is...

Re: Spam/other alerts

Yeah looks like 4 spam bots got in, they were probably initiated by an actual human for the initial account creation then left to run. I couldn't even delete them or their posts (unless I did them manually post by post) - they had over 5000 each and the little management interface I have just crashe...

Re: Old forum files

Unfortunately there is no fix for that. We'd hoped just a bulk find&replace of ausubaru.com to ausubaru.com.au would suffice but the really old vBulletin system has a totally different structure so that won't work. If you have some particularly awesome previous threads I'd suggest we sticky them (if...

Re: Monsterwagon 2.0

Yes/No. As with things, I've been more active on bookface. Mostly just posting up regular pics of little outings. A few updates: News.... 1) I stopped using the L series as a daily going back at least a year now. It stood up fantastically as a daily and I put a lot of kms on doing this. Very often w...

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

You'll need the front section of your L series tailshaft shortened by about 70mm at a tailshaft specialist workshop. If you can afford it, recommend getting the uni joints all replaced with proper greasable ones. The last one I had done, they basically made me an entire brand new tailshaft and only ...

Re: Old forum files

1) the old www.ausubaru.com forum was running per normal, with info up-to-date. 2) ~July we took a backup of the www.ausubaru.com forum with all it's forum content - posts, threads, people's accounts, PMs etc. We started working on re-developing it. 3) there was a period where the www.ausubaru.com f...

yes not sure why that one is still running, I have no control of it, it's a very old version from back in 2016 or so.

Re: "Remember me" doesn't work

Yes there seems to be some issue with the Remember Me. Bit inconvenient. Seems to be a minor hicup from the last update where extra security was added. Will get this fixed up. Silverbullet2 - no idea why you can't log in with your old account. Your old account is still there far as I can see (establ...

Re: Spam/other alerts

yes I cleared those too.

We had to do a full forum upgrade to allow the recapcha feature to be added for new sign-ups. This is now done (you might notice some slight visual and functionality changes) and recapcha is now in place. No new spam yet!

Re: Spam/other alerts

Thanks for reporting. Yeah I've been aware of this. There have been 1 or 2 every day or so popping up and I've been manually clearing them. However we were just slammed with about 60 of them over yesterday and today. I've just finished clearing those too. The forum actually correctly identifies the ...
