175kph, 84 L series wagon. K&N air filter, sports exhaust. A well tuned engine though.

I have a subaru 84 Leone with a 2" exhaust system fitted after the 1st muffler, then straight through to a lukey high-flow muffler. It sounds awesome, just like a wrx, not to loud and still street legal. Cost $300 for the parts and to have it custom made and fitted.

I got a 2" exhaust, cost me $300 dollars. Car does go better and now it sounds like a wrx, totally sweet.

I have an 84 wagon and it started dieing under load. It turned out to be a bad batch of fuel (had diesel in it), had to rebuild the carby because it blocked a jet on the 2nd throat. Seems unlikely that this is your problem though. I never had a problem with the electrics though so sorry I can't help...

I have a 4 speed 1984 wagon and have done 160+, not sure of revs though. Around 5000 I think.

I have a 1984 Leone wagon and I only run it on BP Ultimate, I get a bit of extra power and a lot better fuel economy. It also doesn't ping at all, I have advanced the timing so this is important.
