The fuel economy with my 'L' is pretty bad. Lucky if I get 100k's on 20 bux around town. It does seem a bit better on a run. I think I might start with a can of engine cleaner and maybe a carby rebuild. Thats pretty shocking. Maybe you are just going a little hard on the accelerator. Most people th...

The rocker cover gasket is pretty common to leak oil on EA82's and isn't anything you should be overly concerned about.

Mine does that every now and then too (mines only done around 120,000km)

Il replace it one day

But its just personal experience.

Had a few AWD boxes crack under pressure when going offroad but I am yet to kill an EA box and I have been pretty rough on it

In my opinion the EA 4WD gearbox is alot stronger, and tougher then the EJ Gearbox.

The only downfall with keeping the EA box is that you will need an adapter plate to bolt the box to the engine

either a "hot dog" muffler or a canon would be the best bet to get that boxer rumble. Both our subies have 2.5" straight pipe to a 5" canon and they have one of the best noises I have ever heard from a car (except the rumble of a small block V8...that can't be beaten) sound like this: http://www.you...

Someguy, How many K's has this EA82 seen? I'd be looking at cleaning out the carbie, then tuning it. Make sure your plugs and leads are in good condition and the air cleaner is clean - if you don't know/can't remember when it was last replaced, replace it. My old EA82 got 400km to 50+ litres. Perfo...

Its cheaper because it burns faster.

That will just make my economy even worse

And I have heard mixed reports on how healthy it is for your engine

Would I be better off with Premium Fuel

Hi All. Over the last few weeks I have noticed my EA82 has started to ping while sitting in 4th. It also seems to have lost alot of its power. I have also been getting around 13-14l/100km which seems a bit high for an engine that small (i don't drive it hard either) Now I have been told that this is...

Hmmm. This is an interesting one. So it is a CV joint. Not much you can do IMO unless you want to fork out for new shafts. Cheers Bennie Thanks Bennie. Looks like I am getting a new shaft. Repco quoted $240 (then another $60 to get it installed) (just spent $400 on the rear drums) so I won't be get...

it doesn't knock when im accelerating or braking.

It only happens when im rolling at speeds under 20km/h

I just checked the shaft and the pin is still in but the left side is pretty wobbly connecting to the gearbox where as the right side is fairly stiff

I actually had thought it might have been the radius rods originally but I shook them and they were very stiff. I also replaced the bushes just to be on the safe side.

Where abouts would the pin usually be?

Do you have a pic as a reference (sorry I am pretty new to FWD cars, and I didn't install the original shaft)

Loose CV Shaft

Hi all. Over the last few weeks I had been noticing a clunk when driving under 10-15km/h. After jacking it up and having a look around underneath I have come to the conclusion that the L/H CV shaft is a little loose (you can slide it up and down a few milimeters). Is there a way to fix this or do I ...
