Easiest trick for me to get rid of it was: Next time you do an oil change use some Nulon Lifter Addative alongside some Penrite HPR50 Oil (Thicker Mineral Oil) That combination has always worked perfectly for me.....done it to several EA82's and an EJ22 and had great results Make sure you don't use ...

Sell Expressions of Interest: 1990 L Series (Many Mods, Very Clean)

Due to family changes (needing child restraints, etc) I am considering selling my beloved L Series. It has been in my family since new and has always been cherished. * Scoop * 13" Alloy Wheels with new tyres all round (less than 10k on them) (not easy to come by) * 2.5" Catback system * Custom Carbu...

Have you tried running 98 in it?

Mine used to ping its guts off too, especially in summer.

Since moving to premium i have had better economy, more torque and no more pinging.

Definately worth the extra 10 odd cents per litre

Ended up finding out what is was.

Was the pads.

thanks to wrxer I drove slowly and engaged the handbrake and the noises stopped straight away but when I disengaged the handbrake the noise came straight back instantly.

So might pull the calipers off this weekend and have a fiddle

Diagnose my knock

Hi All. Been chasing a strange knock on the L and close to a grand later still have not got it. The symptoms: Decelerating/Driving/Rolling at speeds bellow 35km/h makes a snap-clunk-snap-clunk-snap-clunk noise from the front end of the car which is aggravated by quick corners/tight steering. Things ...

Thats actually pretty good for a carbed EA82

You have to remember it's a fairly small engine in quite a large car, it has to work hard to do little tasks

mine averages 12.5/100k with the fuel/air ratio correctly set, serviced every 5k, new leads, distributor, new coil, filters etc etc.

I use a minimum of 98RON on all my cars.

Even my EA82 runs smoother and has a little more kick once I run a few tanks of 98 through it (don't rotate between 98 and 91 due to price changes, if you stick to 98 for 3-4 fill ups it will reward you)

Is it regoed & drivable?

If so I will take it :) (even if its not regoed I can still probably organise a trailer, but being able to drive it away would be much easier)

Personally I quite like the 82 and have never had a problem with the EA82 in my L

I have had mine for 4 years now and has never missed a beat (very well look after though)

I would go for an EA82 with custom cams, webber carb, etc etc and should scream.
