Hi all,
Was looking at tachos on ebay cause I don't want to spend a fortune. Some cheap ones on there but cheap usually = shithouse so I am a bit weary.
Any suggestions on a reasonably cheap and fairly compact tacho?

Opinions?
Looks like a mammoth task, but possibly very worthwhile for someone with the parts and know how!

Mine did exactly the same thing. Pull off the ignition plug and use a few bits of wire to hotwire it. Need to bridge the contacts for ignition on and the contacts for the starter. This will confirm if your barrel is faulty or not. Alternatively turn the ignition on and assuming all the dash lights c...

dual headlights
Can dual headlights be fitted to an earlier model that currently only has a single light? How much screwing around is involved?
Thanks.
Thanks.

need a windscreen rubber
Hi all, Since my roof is almost fixed, and the old rubber is well and truly cactus, I need a new one. The only ones I can find are on eBay for about $130 posted. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUBARU-BRUMBY-UTE-WAGON-WINDSCREEN-RUBBER-NEW-1980-93_W0QQitemZ230287924364QQihZ013QQcategoryZ6763QQssPageNameZWDVW...

rebuild EA81
Hi all, How do I go about rebuilding an 84 EA81 to make it work on unleaded without suppliments? I've been told that all it needs is slightly different valves is that right? The motor is pretty screwed at the moment it at least needs both heads done but will probably do the block as well. What else ...

You just can't trust anyone to do a good job these days. At least they did the right thing and paid for the damage. I assume its an auto since as far as I am aware its very difficult to overfill a manual? But don't autos have a dipstick to check the fluid level? I'm not sure how anyone could make su...

Thanks Tex - will give em a go! Can anyone tell me where I can get a rear fuel filter from? No one seems to know what model they are (got the front one changed no worries). Also no one can seem to get me stabiliser bar D bushes - the ones that attach the bar to the control arm. One company told me t...

Interesting. Thanks for the insightful replies. I'm not much of a mechanic - but I like to have a go and the old Subaru's seem pretty good to work on. Have never attempted a motor rebuild - but one thing I was wondering is can I upgrade some of the components in the motor so that they cope better wi...

Brumby issues
Hi all, My 84 Brumby EA81 keeps filling up the PCV hoses with crap - which in turn gets into the carby and screws that up. Looks like I'm going to need to get the carby redone (again). I am guessing it has a crook valve somewhere - does that sound about right? It used to run like crap (backfire on d...
