wheel bearing

So I replaced a wheel bearing on my Brumby a while ago (about a year, hasn't done much driving since) Got it roadworthied today and apparently the wheel bearing is stuffed. Only thing I can think of is that the steering knuckle itself is worn as the bearings were new. I even got a mechanic to press ...

Hi all - my clutch has also stopped working properly, looks like the cable has started to snap. Are new cables easy to get? Had a lot of trouble with spare parts places ordering me wrong parts in the past. Its an 84 Brumby.

Thanks

93 liberty - some questions

Hi all, I'm looking at buying a 93 Liberty however I noticed a bit of a ticking noise and some pulley noise as the motor warmed up. The ticking got more noticeable as the motor was lightly revved. Also whilst it was cold I noticed that if the clutch was pressed the revvs would drop from about 1200 t...

What's different about Subaru master cylinders? I've bled mine the way you describe. Where is your master cylinder leaking from? Dane. The guy from Mr Brakes and another member here both mentioned that the pedal should not be pushed all the way down, but I have bled brakes on other cars before and ...

Leaky brake master cyl - advice needed

So I tried to do the right thing and replace my dodgy brake hoses - anyhow, apparently with Subarus your not supposed to bleed the brakes like you do older cars (my old man taught me that you pump the brakes several times, hold your foot flat down, have someone release the valve and tighten it again...

Would 3k be achievable if I provided a RWC?
Shouldn't cost that much to find out what it needs for RWC.

whats my 84 brumby worth??

Sick of the Subaru and wanting to advertise it in the local paper. After some info as to what it is likely worth. Its quite rough but it has a canopy, bullbar and 14'' sunraysias. Also 2x near new seats waiting to go in. It runs ok, cept for an exhaust leak at the front of the motor somewhere. Bit o...

Ever since I bled the brakes fluid has been leaking from the bit that you put the fluid in where it bolts on to that black thing. Did I somehow cause that or is it just a case of shit happens? How do I fix it? Can it be repaired or do I need to find a new one from the wreckers that doesn't appear to...

Yeah I was worried about that - guess I don't know the product well enough. My thoughts were that it would need to get very hot to actually start melting. Any alternative products out there?

Brumby floor matt alternative....

Hi all, My floor matt is shot and I don't want to use carpet or pay to get one moulded up. I also still get a little bit of water inside when it rains. My brother came up with the ultimate solution for his F100 - he painted the floor with that black tar stuff that dries hard. Seems ok to me - would ...

Interesting suggestion about fitting L series backing plates to the rear drums. Will look into that. Will bleed the master cylinder as per the method you have described. Not looking forward to bleeding everything else again though but I guess its important to have a nice brake pedal with no spongine...

Thanks mate. Really appreciate all of the advice. First I have heard about not pushing it down more than half. I've always applied as much force as possible to it. It doesn't say otherwise in the workshop manual.... Do you have to close the valve when you release the pedal? I guess you wouldn't need...

Not keen on removing it..... that would mean bleeding the entire system again wouldn't it? To do it in the vehicle, do I just follow the same process as for bleeding the brakes normally?? (pump a few times, hold pedal, open both valves, close valves, release pedal repeat)? Can the fluid just go righ...

ah..... the book doesn't mention anything about that at all.

What is the process for getting the air out of the master cylinder? How does a vacuum bleeder work exactly and are they expensive?

Well the peddle doesn't feel great but they do stop ok. Perhaps I should bleed them again? There are two bleeder valves on the filler part itself, do I need to do anything with those?

Ok, took off the front mud - that was a mission. Three bolts just snapped, one came out easy the other two needed some gentle persuasion. It looks and rides a hell of a lot better. But concerned about the wheels rubbing when going over bumps etc. And whats the go with those plastic guards which I th...

ok.... so maybe there are rear brake hoses. They look good so not going to worry about them too much. The aftermarket fittings didn't fit the old clips properly so some modification was required there but all good. Bled the brakes, haven't fully tested them yet but they don't quite seem 100% despite...

brumby 175/75/14

Hi all, I thought that 175/75/14 should fit with no issue.... but they rub :( :( What are my options here? I am not prepared to modify the body at all. I think they are just kissing the mudflap so perhaps pulling those off will help. I don't want to lift it stupidly high either but perhaps 1 or 2 in...
