Sounds like you need to do a compression test first.
Running rich will cause an engine to burn oil, and burning oil can cause running rich.

Yes the third fan can restrict airflow take it out. The problem you had was a lack of power to the fans, that is what needs fixing, and it's not hard to fix. The design has always been Rwd.
Subaru Japan is happy with this, Subaru Australia is not because it doesn't fit in with there advertising.
It'll be a great car, but unlike any other Subaru.
It's just a shame they didn't make it MR.
