Careful with your analysis of the crack between the valve seats. If it is only a minor crack with no signs of leaking (and the seats look good), provided you don't overheat the engine in the future, they will be fine. If the cracks go up into the port passages or show signs of leaking (stains around...

Some webers have an initial progression stage casting that can be drilled to suit your engine. This is a bit complicated, but it gives good economy and eliminates flat spots on initial progression. A lot of people just put bigger jets in, this solves the flat spot problem, but reduces efficiency/eco...

Weber carbs are very adjustable and can be set to work over a wide range. I had a Datsun 1600, L18 motor, "hot" cam, running 2 x twin 45DCOE Weber's. That's one 45 for each cylinder. Responsive, reasonable economy (relative to how hard you push the go pedal) and loved a rev. A good dyno tune was all...

Doug is correct, the true way to read a coil (pretty well any coil) is to measure its inductance. From that you can work out what you really should be seeing from it. Unless you understand inductance and have equipment to measure it, it can be hard to make any sense of it. Nice to do in the "ideal w...

anyone got ideas on how to test? I have suspicions of the main coil to cap high voltage lead. How can I test that? Pull it out of the centre of dizzy cap, connect it to a spark plug (earthed on the motor), crank. You should get lots of sparks. Or measure it with your multimeter, provided its a stan...

Can the efficiency and traction of Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive outrun t...
