So long, Farewell

Good to see you guys still here, I have always loved the scoobies but recently I had to part with my much beloved 84 my wagon (3" lift, genuine 14" rims w correct offset) for two reasons. One thing, we tried, we gave it our best shot but Weipa and the Far north is just not as suby friendly as we had...

hate to be a killjoy...

This discussion has come up before and I recall someone made a serious point when they said something like the following. 'Most insurers will insure your vehicle even if it is 'modified' without engineer inspection. If you hit another car, which is your bread and butter claim (5k to 10k) damage they...

the vac advance...

The vac advance diaphragm usually flogs out on older EA81's. It is just there to smooth out the timing by advancing it slightly as you accelerate. The car will still run fine but won't be achieving *optimum* performance with a broken diaphragm. You can always check by sucking on the hose yourself an...

You'll be fine...

Up in weipa at the moment in a my 84 stock ea81 with a 3" lift and smaller tyres (than you). The only thing that will stop you is deep water and that time of year is the dry so it will be less of an issue. I will be doing a trip about then to the cape (200km away) Pack a snatch strap and try not to ...

Urgent . . . MY wagon won't idle!

Gents/ladies, Went 4wd up in Weipa out to a place called the 'bean' hole, lovely fresh water swimming hole that only flows in the wet season. Serious water crossings with the bonnet going under two times and regular inundation periods after that. Prior to going driving the car has been running well,...

Hello from Weipa

Been awhile, The sube is in Weipa and I've already taken her off road several times. Mostly on account of the roads, but just 5 minutes out of town you can go 4wd and get into serious trouble, especially now in the wet season. Anyway, on the previous webboard before the rebuild to this version there...

Ok,

don't know about the reg; it's on a 84 my (ea81). there doesn't appear to be any regulators on the outside of the alt. Is this where you find them?

Hey, (apologies for thread in wrong forum) My My84 ea81 has developed an alternator issue. dash is lit up like a xmas tree so I've put a multi meter on the battery to find the alt is dropping no charge back to the battery. Weipa and the fishing

I'm being transferred to Weipa next year as a teacher and have been told that the fishing up there is just unbelievable. I can't wait. My best mate shows up the other day with a box of lures under one arm (like about 20 or more) says I'm not to come back until I've caught a fish on all of them or lo...

Weipa-rise my wagon

Gents/ladies, Been some time since I logged on to the site and longer still since I posted, so much so that I had to re-join the board. Anyway, as with all things its time for my wife and I to move away from sunny Brisbane to very sunny and insanely hot Weipa. Weipa is far north Qld, like 800 km nor...
