I'm looking into using a wiper motor to replace the vacuum servo unit. I prefer the idea of a motor to push/pull this cable rather than relying on the vacuum.

If I can get this to work, I'll have 1 spare.
Just depends how quickly you need it.

That image you've posted would really help too ;)

I should set my own little side business :p Already reproduced the L stickers :"touring wagon" for the side of the roof, some sticker (MPFI 1.8 4WD) for the tailgate (which I'm sure wouldn't be hard to modify for a sedan), and the instrument cluster which can be customised (240km/h vortex or 200km/h...

I don't get why the hatches had this "II" part without the "turbo"

If I can get my stencil, I could do the ultimate one:
FULL TIME 4WD TURBO RX/II

:P
Once it's in CAD, there's so many options

Yes, but you can see on the top "4WD" sticker, thatr the horizontal part of the "4" is higher than the bottom. This is how it is from factory http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MiZ-UqDwf6c/TSVNioF4HgI/AAAAAAAAHrI/Itr38ZM7GDc/s1600/1988%2BSubaru%2BRX%2BTurbo%2BSedan%2BFull%2BTime%2B4%2Bwheel%2Bdrive%2B4wd%2Ba...

:) Except they're not wholly accurate He has a "Full Time AWD RX" set, but the factory one was "Full Time 4wd Turbo RX" And a "Full time AWD RX/II" set, but again should be "4WD" Subaru didn't start using AWD until the Gen 2 Liberty. Even the first Liberty's were "Constant 4wd" I'm trying to go as a...

From what I've heard, they bolt straight across onto the Brumby/MY Best way to check would be to get the drum brake backing plate off an L series (cos 99% of them have this & they're worth next to nothing), and see if it bolts onto an MY. If that works, then the disc brake rear end will too because ...

thanks for posting the pic of the WAIC radiator. Do you happen to have a pic with the bumper, etc back on? You've got it mounted quite low. I'm going to be running an "on road" spec car only with the factory lower body kit available on the 3 door. It covers (replaces) the metal piece that goes acros...

If you've got a series one, then that is possible because the grill screws to the headlights.
But on the series 2 it clips into the thin panel between the headlights & bumper.

Just realised we're cluttering up a sale thread. PM me

actally, if you use the vortex one with the disc brakes, you may be able to adapt some front calipers onto them to use the cable handbrake
Or use the Honda caliper conversion to get a cable brake

and agree, would been stuff all weight difference
most of the weight is in the diff & moustache bar

Where abouts are you located?
I'm trying to find an RX to trace the stickers off the back doors. You can't buy them from Subaru any more :(
I'm going to redraw them in CAD & then get them reproduced.
But I need a car to trace & measure off...

PM me :D

You're prob better off trying to find the rear end from a FWD vortex.
The disc brake set up is useless for 4wd (so they're worthless) and once you remove the backing plate, caliper, brake rotor, it'll prob be lighter than the drum setup anyway.

I've only just noticed this photo - have you got AC with those fans fitted as well? I'm keen to know as I may do the same thing with my L rather than having a very tight fit with the fans behind the radiator. Love your coupe, keep up the great work! I'd love to have an RXII!! It was fitted to an EA82T engined touring wagon. I think the vacuum supply was the issue. I probably should've plumbed it in after the reservoir on the firewall for the dash vents. Or maybe installed a second one of them. Will go back to looking into that option (but I'm going to have to find the so...

L series constant 4wd: centre diff lock activation

Currently, I'm installing a Vortex constant 4wd (with diff lock), single range box into my touring wagon. It's going to be lowered, rather than raised so not really worried about the low range, I would rather have the AWD. I may have access to my old dismantled dual range, constant 4wd with diff loc...
