I can't offer any advice to your problem but there has to be a problem somewhere , my Liberty towed our camper (all be it a bit smaller than yours ) as if it wasnt there passing cars at highway speeds was easy going from 100 to 140 before you could say farrrrrrrrrk.

I have killed an auto in my liberty on the last trip back from QLD , we were towing the camper , only just made it back home.

Just A tip , allways keep windows closed and the fresh air vents open , it presurises the car to prevent vacume at the rear sucking in the dust and fumes.
