IMHO the Toyo is the better tire.

On the subject of cost - remember, you car is only held to the road by four spots of rubber barely bigger than the palm of your hand; tires are just one of the things you should never skimp on.

Try dropping the pressure in your on-road oriented tires as well - you'll be amazed how much more traction you get in rugged terrain (doesn't really help you in mud though!).

Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else . . . but what are you doing to adapt the wheels to your L-series? Spacers or adapters will also influence what width tires you can use as well depending on their thickness.

The guys are right, low profiles are not the best for off-road, but they aren't that bad, depending on the type of terrain you drive. I wouldn't go past the BFGoodrich. But you probably already thought I'd say that.

I can sure think of a lot easier ways to fit WRX running gear in a Brumby than widening the whole car.

I noticed Stinky's post on Simex tires.

From my experience with them I can say the tread patterns are excellent, however their construction is cheap and horrible and they really don't like working at low pressures.

L-series sedan, 4" body lift and King Springs:

1) BFGoodrich Mud Terrain, 215/75/15
2) I think I paid about $260 per tire.
3) Yes I had to cut the guards front and rear, not much though. Both infront and behind the tire.
4) GO FOR IT!
