How do you get the extension shaft / transfer case off an EA81 gearbox ? I have a dead one I want to have a look through for interest. I assume I am missing something really obvious but when I try to separate the three main sections I get about a half inch gap between them then everything stops movi...

Worn EA81 Distributor bearing ?

G'day All, I have started noticing a new noise comming from the brumby. Worse when cold, and almost disappears when warm. Sort of like the sound of a blowfly stuck between the sheets of glass on an open house window if you can picture what I mean. It is intermittent at about 40 seconds / minute. I h...

I am already doing it. There is only 50 odd kilos tongue weight so the steering is not affected. THe big issue is getting the whole lot to stop where and when you want it to. The brakes are marginal in an empty brumby (compared to the 04 fozza ). So I am also in the middle of converting the trailer ...

From memory that wasn't any worse than an L with the hill holder still hooked up ..

I did manage to get it to slip a few times in 1st / 2nd but only when the clutch was still cold and running over 18 PSI. It certainly had the grin factor, I wonder where the engine and the brumby have ended up .. :(

You do end up with a very thick left leg.
Can't be any worse than an old Landrover clutch, can it ? :D

What was this running in ?

In my previous Brumby I was running LPG only and an Air / Water intercooler. For tyre / CV life I ran factory (6 PSI ? ) as a daily driver. When silliness was required I ran it around 16 PSI up to 20 PSI and one accidental deviation up to 24 I think  It always seemed to run out of puff around ...

I have to assume your box is an AWD one or it would be interesting getting that sort of power down to the wheels 8O If this is the EA82 gearbox, I would be a little concerned about long term longevity with that much HP getting thrown at it. I sort of look at the clutch as the weak link that gives a ...

You should be able to get somebody to machine a new keyway on the opposite side, though I am unsure if that portion of the crank is heat treated. I do know know the newer engines well enough to tell you if there is anything along the lines of a crank angle sensor driven directally off the pulley ? I...

Jeff, how do you find the trailer at highway speeds ? Do you have Aircon in the Brumby as there does not seem to be much space left for the intercooler radiator. I had not given thought to the EA81T until now. Did they ever officially come into Aus ? That would make the changeover a hell of a lot si...

Gotta make the Brumby go harder. Opinions ?

G'day all, Long term project is to make the old Brumby go harder. I bet you have never heard that one before :D The ute is required to pull about a 750kg GTM 8x5 up the Adelaide South Eastern freeway at 100. (steep ass freeway for those who do not know it) My '04 XS Forester Auto will not do this wi...
