I'll put my two bobs worth in here. I reckon the Weber conversion on my Brumby has improved performance no end. I have the confidence on long runs to overtake, especially when you can give the pedal a kick and the second throat comes in. Trips to Perth are much more comfy with the knowledge that you...

Love the twins mate,
I used to own a 3.5 litre Rover V8, with twin SU's. I used to clean them on the kitchen table, and reset the piston. Never could get them really in tune. But that was just part of the fun owning an English car.

Looks great mate, the metal is pretty hard to weld eh? Blows holes if you're not careful.
What does the twin carbie set up go like, performance wise?

Thanks guys, Toonga, I don't have a lift kit mate. I used the Weber aircleaner base as a template, cut it out with a jigsaw leaving enough metal to turn up on the sides. This covered the side gaps on the "hollow" bit. Little bit of spot welding with the old gasless mig, and a bit of "metal" filler. ...

Scoobymines aircleaner modification

Hi all, Been meaning to modify the original air cleaner to fit the Weber. Finally got round to it. Bugger of a job, but boy what a difference to the performance and smooth running. Some pics to show you how it turned out. Cheers Rick

Thanks El Freddo,
Yeh, she just sort of sits in the garage most of the time these days. I've had people approach me and ask me if i I wanted to sell her, but wasn't interested at the time. You know what they're like, want to pay nothing.

Thanks 60,
There's a lot of high priced rubbish on gumtree, and you know what people are like when it's time to shell out for a car. I thought the price is a fair one.

Thanks Paul,

I may think of selling her soon. Plenty of people here in Busso want to buy it, but don't want to give you anything.
Got a grandie up in Perth, so i may look at something a bit bigger, auto and air.

Cheers Rick

My Subi turns 30

Hii everyone, I'm having a go at posting some pics of my 83 Brumby. She's 30 years young, and given me some great service. I'm the 3rd owner and i doubt whether she's ever been off road in her life. I've given her a lot of TLC, and have replaced the normal stuff like CV's, ball joints, front end stu...

Jim,
Mine was a Regal, 3 years old at the time. Took on an Alfa, through the the streets of Perth once. DUMB I know, things you never tell your kids. Thrashed him, he was almost standing up, he was pressing that hard on the gas. Good luck with finding one, they are pretty pricey these days

Apologies to all for getting off the subject.

I had a car once, you could take the key out while driving and scratch your head with it.
Ah! the joy of keyless entry, and having to have your foot on the brake to start the car.

Thanks Paul,
I was a bit worried about setting them too tight, but I will use your suggested gap.
I do believe there is a bit of wear as you suggest.
Cheers Rick
