I am no expert but from what I can acertain they are ea62. The problem with SUB4 and other aftermarket heads (other than the price) is that exhaust port is still very restrictive. This is for a cheap project, I don't see the point in spending huge money it. I would just modify the EA81 heads but I t...

EA dual port heads

I know it's probably a dumb question but does anyone have or know of a pair of dual port heads off the early 1400 ea engines that may be for sale? I don't even know if they were ever released in Aus but I would be keen for a pair.

Thanks for the tip RSR, I didn't know that one. Have attached a photo for those that are interested. I'm super happy with it, it has 2 of the smallest rust spots (about 5mm in each door). It is what I really wanted first off for a ej20t conversion but I could not find one so I did the conversion on ...

wanted ea81 engine

Isn't it always the way, I have thrown away several good EA81's over the years and now I need one. If you have a rebuildable ea81 I would be interested at the right price. I have just bought a 1st series Brumby and want to build a nice motor as a small upgrade over the ea71. I am in Brisbane so anyw...

Interesting points guys, I found the restrictor and it was in place when it only made low boost. Anyway bypassed the whole thing so it dosn't matter now. Funny how things go, 3 weeks ago I hated my Brumby and was going to let a relative buy it and be glad to see the back of it. Then I got my finger ...

It was origanaly hooked up to the factory solinoid when it made 6lbs. I have disconnected it and put a boost controller between the turbo outlet and wastegate. I have not heard of a factory "pill" to control boost and I can't see one. There is what looks like a check valve between the turbo outlet a...

Have done a few things lately. The air flow metre has been playing up so I fitted a new one, problem fixed. Got a full 2 1/2" exhaust fitted so it sounds awesome now. I put a boost gauge on it because I suspected it was not making much boost in standard form, I was right only 5 lbs so I bought a che...

What's my Brumby worth

I am going to sell my Brumby and a relative is interesed in buying it but I don't know what it's worth. Could you guys give me an idea of how you would pay for it if you were a buyer. This the link to the build http://ausubaru.com.au/showthread.php?t=19731&highlight=ej20+brumby The last photo is how...

Thanks guys, yes it is the one with the conversion. I keep changing the look of it because I wasn't happy with the way I first had it but I like it now so will leave it alone. I enjoy the stage it's at now where I just do little jobs on it now and then, the next thing I want to do is make some ladde...

Yes,we have the same drama about VIN numbers here and that is a prob. I used to do chassis grafts on F100's till they started getting upset about VIN's.

I know it's easy to offer advice from the outside but I have done a similar conversion years ago (graft front rail etc into another car). The way I did it, and I realise you are beyond this point now, was I unpicked the whole front of the project car (your brumby) and fitted the whole donor front, i...

Holly snapping hot camel shit said Abdul, this is an awesomely ambitious project and I am heartened to see there are some people still brave enough (and deaf enough not to hear the nay sayers) to have a go. From someone who has done a few of this type of project let me tell you you are going the rig...

Thanks Freddo, your right obviously. I do enjoy it now really, it has all the features I am after but man does it P me off that I gotta take that lump of gearbox out again. I might ask a mate that has a hoist if i can do it at his place, at least it will be a bit easier.

I have thought about it but I have spent so much time and money that I don't want to do it all over again. I really just wanted to have a dummy spit, it was either post here or kick the dog and the dog bites me if I kick it.

Well it just keeps getting better, after putting the new gearbox in it has started making a noise that sounds like the torque converter. Box works fine and it does not make the noise in overdrive. The result is that I hate this car with every bone in my body now, I have spent a fortune, cut the end ...

Just an update. I have put a new gearbox in my brumby because I forgot to check the front diff oil when I took it out of the half cut and the diff chewed itself up within 15k's. It was easier to swap the gearbox than rebuild diff. I had to give my first born son and a night with my wife as payment t...
