Gday, I am new to NSW. I have a 89 summerwagon 2inch lift 14's but otherwise stock.
I dont post alot but read heaps on this site. the reason i dont post heaps is because i can often find an existing post on what i need to know. I have rebuilt the ea82 with the help of this forum.

check your wheel nuts. I had these noises happen once. I thought that it was something more costly but i had 3 out of 4 wheel nuts loose.

I know some great spots up that way. and some even better fishing spots. but I think i will be in QLD with work then. I will be watching this spot anyway.

Solved

I have done a full engine seals rebuild on my stock ea82. It has been more expensive than i first imagined. anyway i hope the result is good.

It is near complete. just need to put on the inlet manifold, timing belts and new clutch in.

oh and i sprayed the rocker covers blue. haha.

yeah sounds like too much trouble for me and my skill level.

On the up side, I have found an EA82 with 130,000k on the clock. I check it out tomorrow. If it is all that it is cracked up to be I will just do a straight swap for my current(somewhat ill) engine.

Gday, I would like to know how much stuffing around is involved in swapping out my current ea82 with an ea82mpfi engine. Will it bolt straight on to my existing gear box and engine mounts? what has to be done with the electrics? Is it a legal modification in vic or do i need an engineers cert? Cheer...

Thanks Guys, I have now got the ring nut off! I used a combo of methods. First i used a large drift to get it moving. then i used a folded steel bracket that i had laying around. Yeah I have seen the tool that Elfreddo made. It is exactly what i need but i dont have the fabrications tools required ( welder, grinder or materials). I will try the punch and BFH method. Matt are you confused? surely the lock ring is threaded and needs to be reused? Yes, the ring nut is threaded and needs to be reused. Another way to remove the bearing is to put it in a vice and put one of the bearings back into the outer and bash it with BFH. As you replace it anyway so it doesn't...

After a bit more research on this site I have found the name of the tool required...

this is what i found in a previous post.
"Instal ring nut to housing by using a torque wrench and Subaru Socket number 925550000. Tightening torque is 172 - 221 NM (17.5 - 22.5 kg-m)."
