Thanks for your help everyone, got to the point of being too hard for me with a lack of tools, expertise and time. Getting it sent off to a subaru specialist mechanic to do the work.

Yes, i think the spark issue could be relevant. I feel as though it could be the coil pack/leads/plugs? Or the sensor? But I really don't know. Would this have caused the gradual issue then a complete fail...

Thanks Gannon, but i'm in Newcastle i'm affraid :-/

So fuel pump could well be the culprit by the sounds of it.

The mechanic did blow some starter spray down the intake to no avail.

Turns over, splutters, won't start.

Hi, it's been a while since i've posted on here but i'm stuck for what to do with my problem. I have a Subaru liberty RX 2000 model, manual. Since about a month or two ago the car was have a rough idle on startup. It would start fairly easily, without much hesitation and the first few seconds would ...

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Basically after the car continuously getting 'hot' my dad noticed that the engine wasnt that hot, and the fans weren't cutting out. So after spending a fair bit of cash at the auto electrician and on parts, we tested the actual dash readout gauge thing to find tha...

Sorry havent gotten back yet. not a whole lot of progress. Took it in to the auto electrician to have diagnostics run. 3 stored codes, none of which were related to the heat problem. The problem still persists. Going to see my mechanic monday when he finally gets off from holidays XD. The car seems ...

Okay, refilled the car using the above method, still the same problem. I'm going to take it in to my mechanic tomorrow and hopefully he can pin point the problem. :-( Its either a semi blocked/broken radiator, a broken sensor or the dreaded head gasket.

Hi everyone, it's been a while. Firstly the background surrounding my issue. Last week i had a small busted hose for the coolant system, which I found after my car overheated. After buying a replacement hose and upgrading the clamps, i decided I would change the coolant. After this, everything seeme...

Clunky

I have a 2000 Liberty RX wagon, and when I accelerate then take my foot off the accelerator, there is a horrible shudder/clunkyness, and this occurs again when I return to depress the accelerator. It seems to occur more often when below 3000-3500RPM, so if i rev harder in 2nd say to 5000RPM then tak...

IPOD to AUX

Hi there. I bought an Alpine CDE-101 Head Unit, which has a rear direct ipod control cable, but this model doesn't have an Aux input, only a front USB input. There is a cable to buy instead of the iPod cable that has a 3.5mm Jack. Therefore, instead of having either the iPod cable installed, or the ...

I tightened them, and referred to the service manual which recommended the movement sub 10mm (cant remember details but they were 7.5-9mm movement in the belt or something along those lines.) And thus far the loud squeal has stopped, touch wood, and i thought the other squeal had stopped also, but t...

Hmm i've had a play, checked the belts. It screams so loud, like a piglet! It seems the belts are okay. Not too tight or loose. Its frustrating me. It seems at though there are two distinct noises, one when the air-conditioner is on, at start up. Its the real screaming pig-like noise. But theres is ...

Squeeling Belt

I have a belt that screams really loudly (quite embaressing) when i start up without the aircon on, but it disappears quickly when i turn the steering wheel (therefore i assume something to do with the pump belt?) but when the aircon is on at start up, the scream continues even if i turn the wheels....

I'm on my red P's in NSW, and fortunately drive a nice Liberty Gen 3 RX Wagon 2000, which is a great car. However, i personally do not have to pay the insurance, which is currently comprehensive, but we are reconsidering to 3rd party ( if I hit a Ferrari i wont have to foot the bill, but i'm not cov...
