Hi All, Just thought I would post another update!! After dropping the oil to the correct level after another overfill at the last service have not had any signs of problems. We have just completed a holiday to Qld and did 5500 kms in 14 days. The oil level did not move and even better we averaged 45...

Hi There, After reading through the info about the new "Lemon Laws" see post regarding driver train shudder, it is looking like we would not have to go down the path of legal action. According to this if they can not fix the issue we just return the vehicle to the selling dealer for a refund or repl...

Lucky you've had no shudder yet, have you had your first service that really does seem to hit a sweet spot, it certainly was with mine. Remember the majority of the Subie guys have never seen a diesel and quite frankly I don't know that they have had sufficient training on their new technology. Bad...

Hi Phil We've had our Outback Diesel since Apr 2010 and it's been back to the workshop more than 6 times already, including twice when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree! First the DPF starts flashing, then it becomes constant, then all the malfunction lights come on, including the engine m...

Been doing some more reading to try and get to the bottom of this problem and came across JLM Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner Fluid. In Citroen, Peugeot etc – (also some Ford, Volvo) an active on board additive system with its own tank & pump system automatically doses the correct amount of additi...

Interesting reading... I have just purchased 2011 Diesel Forester. I have only done 2k with no problems yet. I think it is a great car to drive. Has anyone contacted consumer affairs or taken legal advice on this matter yet? What are out rights if this issue can not be resolved? This is the first t...

Hi There, We have still been having DPF/Oil dilution problems....6 visits to dealer in 3 months. Last one resulting in oil dilution at 11% only 2700kms after oil change. Oil and filter changed and ECU erased and replaced with new data pak. I have seen people talking about logging data via OBD and wa...

Here is an Update!! One week and about thirty kms after dealer did regeneration and changed oil and filter due to raised oil level, the DPF light came back on again. Straight back to the dealer and the filter tested as 85% blocked and the oil level was high again. The diagnoses said it had attempted...

Diesel Particulate Filter - DPF

Hi There, Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with the DPF on their Diesel Outback. Our light came on today and before we could even get out of the town limits to perform a burn, the light began to flash. Car went to dealer and have been told they performed a manual regeneration. My con...

This is fine to do but in the case of the new outback the speed o and odemeter are calibrated diferently meaning the odometer is correct! Basically changing tyres would make the odometer incorrect affecting all fuel consumption figures etc. Will just need to live with reading the speed from the GPS ...

I have had know luck and have had several contacts with Subaru and they won't have a bar of it. Several companies I have spoken with have said bit of a mine field to try and correct. Still say it is a safety issue....just been on a long trip away and looking down at the GPS to set the cruise control...

Have had ours since the middle of March and absolutly love it. With 90% of the first 2 tanks being done around town we are still getting over 900kms per tank. Only issue so far is a wind noise around the front windscreen which I will get looked at at the first service. You won't be dissapointed!! Phil

more than you want to play with on that car. spped is derived from the ABS system and then fed via CANbus to the speedo head. do it with tyres - easier. The issue I have doing it with tyres, is that the signal is obviously split off separately to the speedo and odometer. Subaru state that the odome...
