That does it, someone needs to go out on an expedition to every NZ wreckers yard and scour every old subie or even the engine pile for this engine/cylinder heads :) Would make a pretty cool YT documentary though, hunting down the mystical EA81 Safari engine  Unfortunately anything as old i...

But, i have some new front struts and it will be going up another inch in order to accomodate them, also have a new driveshaft, just requires a balance and then it will be almost ready for a cert. Most recent picture. ht...

Mocked up with spring seat and camber top, i will make custom top plates that i will weld into the strut towers and probably won't use the adjustable tops. http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/6817/p1010998g.jpg http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/5498/p1010999.jpg http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/26...

Anyone know if Toyota AE86 tension rods are suitable? they look like the "right" shaped ends. picture and for sale here : justjap.com very vague dimensions here: megan racing I might suck it up and find out in the next few months Remember they are designed to work in tension, may not stand up to th...

Silvia/200sx use a tension rod setup, they're not designed to work in compression as the subaru ones are. One setup that i was looking at relplicating was the mk1 escort compression strut kits. The use a universal type joint at the bottom arm, and a rose joint onto the chassis rail. http://retroford...

Right so things have gone on hold a little bit what with everything happening over here at the moment. Anyway after much measuring and thinking i have come up with the following scheme: -e30 bmw strut legs, remove hub and shorten as required (approx 50mm at this stage) add spring perch for 65mm ID r...

Righto update time, After a pretty fruitless search for a complete strut from another vehicle, i have decided to build my own. The plan is to grab a pair of GTB legacy (JDM yo) rear struts, remove the mounts off the bottom of the strut tube, and then cut the strut body to the length i need, then i w...

Yer ive seen a few brumbys that look like this \-/ wouldnt a wheel alingment fix that issue In short no. The increased camber cannot be dialled out with a wheel alignment because there is no camber adjustment built into stock brumby suspension, the camber becomes pretty laughable very quickly becau...

FYI, this is what an AWD D/R l series box looks like.

This one is form a jap import touring wagon, 3.7 final drive with the not so good low ratio.

On my brumby ( i know it's not an L but it's pretty similar) the body of the liberty/legacy rack only fits into the crossmember mounts without the rubber bushes, thus it is solid mounted. I also had to clearance the hole through the crossmember to allow the rack to sit in the mounts properly. This w...

Thanks for all the replies. For what i want there will always be a compromise, i should probably add some information about my brumby at this point, it is lifted 3" at the crossmember and front struts (2" gearbox/radius arms) i am not running a sway bar at the moment, which i think is the reason for...

So, good news bad news, The ef honda font springs are lighter rate than i though, they're not as thick as i though, so i have one for shits and giggles to try some things with. Unfortunately 405 struts although dimensionally close in terms of travel etc, are completely the wrong design, so i'm now l...

Part 2: Springs.
I've broken the posts up so that it's not TL/DR. For springs i want to run as smaller diameter as i can, whilst also using a spring that is further into it's travel at static ride height, this should allow more negative travel (coupled with the longer travel of the peugeot struts) A consequence of u...

Front strut upgrade/project - Brumby.
Hi all, i'm looking to replace the front struts in my brumby, the old struts have had it and i'm keen to put something a bit better in there. This thread will serve as a bit a reference, for anyone else looking to do anything similar. My brumby has been lifted 3" and has 195 r14 maxxis mudders on it...

Righto, got my new radiator sorted, will run twin 10" pusher fans on the front of the rad, one controlled by the ecu, the other via the original brumby fan switch. http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/3905/p1010872.jpg Also finished up the mods to the l series console. http://img402.imageshack.us/img4...
