Thanks guys, I worked out that the gear lever needed to be cut and reangled. Got that done and found that I didnt need to touch the 4wd selector as it just sits a bit higher when in 2wd, which I think is better anyway. Took a photo of the rewelded part before I put it back in if anyone needs to do t...

Its a four speed and it is fouling. I have the lift in and when you try to put it in reverse it is fouling on the 4wd selector. The 4wd selector is also fouling as it is being pulled downwards and is hitting the plastic console.

Brumby lift gearshift mod

Any suggestions on the best way to modify the gearshift and 4wd selector for a three inch lift on the brumby so that it doesnt foul. Though I would ask before I stuff it up..

I asked my mate to draw my brumby. I think he got it correct on the one on the right hand side.

If you do it simmo, I worked out the best was was to get some sheeting cut into 30mm wide strips, clamp this up under inside the panel and then weld the seam. It is very slow and tedious but I reakon its worth the work. And dont forget to spray some fish oil up inside when finished to stop it rustin...

I could be wrong about the exact position of this block, but if it is the one under the rear seat(when mine is), then no you cant get to it directly from inside. I already thought of this for mine, pulled rear seat out and carpet forward only to discover there is another layer/panel over it. If you ...

Mate if you werent so far away I would come over with the mig and give you a hand. Not a huge job, just fiddly. Depends on how far you need to take it to get repaired as it looks by the photo as it has been driven a bit already. Probably before you discovered it. Before you throw away your car body,...

Yeah I know it would be a huge source of trouble, but would almost be worth it :D I do get bored with standard cars. If only Subaru didnt stop making the brumby.. Imagine a current GT brumby and the fun it would be.

Have to agree with Smoov. Black bonnets look like they havent been painted. Might as well put on a different coloured door as well to keep the theme going.

I do like your photoshop efforts though Joe - good pic.

Yeah, I think it gives it a more modern style, since Subaru has not brought out a new model for the last 14 years! I have a lift kit on the way and larger wheels, sports seats, steering wheel and a few other goodies to fit, 5 speed etc. Slowly getting there though.
