Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Going back through my messages with Jordan, this is all the info I had: The issue is to find a cheap box that has the correct 5th gear ratio and its normally the wrx or turbo ej boxes that have them and everyone wants good coin and 0.738 5th gear I know he did make an adapter for me, and sent me a ...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
I should’ve been more clear about the link to the 1.59:1 low range into an EJ box. All you need from there is the details around the bearing details to mate the L series unit shaft into the EJ input shaft housing. For those that snag a series 1 EJ gearbox, the input shaft housing is three bolt and s...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Can you tell I'm out of my depth with all this EJ malarkey? That’s where asking questions comes into it! Research!! Makes sense that you’re using the adaptor plate you’ve had for some time! Any way I can view this video by Jordan on bookface? Or can I find it using Mrs El_Freddo’s account? I’...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
That engine looks so good in the blue engine bay! It’s not too late to pull the intake manifold and get it media blasted, it’ll just take time and some coin as usual! Since you’ve got what looks like an EJ flywheel, didn’t you have the matching bolts for tut that came off the engine? Or MIA? Where’d...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Don’t put a pod filter on this as A) it won’t look even stockish and B) if you put it behind the RHS head, although it’s convenient, you’ll have a piping hot exhaust directly under it! Tape up/line your engine bay rails to protect your paint. The EJ202 fits but it can be tight to get it in as there’...

Re: Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
Photos don’t do this interior justice Toonga!! In the pics it looks like you can use this interior, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth! It was wet in places, fabric was brittle and would tear if you sat or lent on it, rats had dedicated everywhere! Since it’s had rats in it I’m surprised...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
The fuel pressure regulator is located at the back of the fuel rail on the RHS head. It’ll have a little vacuum line that goes to it too. I reckon you’ll find that 8mm fuel line overkill. You’re not running a drag racer, and I’m 99% sure when ppl drop the turbo EJ in that they don’t upgrade the fuel...

 And some panel beating, cable ties replaced with the actual clips they’re substituting and paint touch up all over! He’s bit of a bucket but he’s solid and everything works as it should… until it doesn’t - which doesn’t happen often so can’t complain. I forgot to add that he’s run over 484,000...

Re: Sister's Gen3 Liberty "Basil"
Not much happened for Basil over the last few years other than smashing out kms, giving good fuel economy and smashing that set of factory 17 inch Liberty rims while up in Qld. According to Sis the edge of the road came into the lane where there was a pot hole, she couldn’t go around it due to oncom...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Scrub the idea of sending over a fuel line from a wreck over here, I read this thread the other day by chance and thought it’s something you could do - bend up your own fuel line: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/127820-ea81-rear-fuel-line-routing-need-pics/ It would probably be easier and...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Hey Sam, Are you sure you don’t have a return line? AFAIK you should have a fuel in, (small/tiny) fuel return and a vent line. Subarino told me the swap the small return and vent lines with EJ conversions to get the fuel through the body using the factory lines. That 6mm fuel in line will be just fi...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Those fuel pressure regulator questions are ones for haltech, or check out their YouTube channel. If you’re worried about no return line you could run a surge tank that feeds the EFI pump. Fuel returns to this - and depressurises by feeding back into the factory tank via its outlet to the standard p...

Time for more pics and bits. Engine bay as it is atm: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q70/922/cokY1w.jpg I pumped out all the dead fuel I could using the factory fuel system then added about 12L of fresh fuel, pumped more until it went clear, the dead stuff was cloudy. Now it fires up and ...

Re: Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
Thanks for the info Sam. I was thinking about it and for now I might look into using some sikaflex or something to plug the holes and keep the water out - when the time comes. As for the flames it takes a special type! Nah, really that came about because I rotated the dizzy the wrong way. ...

That’s a very odd situation Grahame! Any mods done on the Liberty?

Re: Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
You’re not wrong there Sam about how rare they are! Funny how the tide turns as it used to seem like wagons were dime a dozen compared to Brumbys! I decided today to spend half an hour to play with this and see if I could get it to kick over - or it would even turn over by hand. Turned out it turned...

I reckon you’ll come to love the SG foz Sam! Our one in the family is going awesome most likely with over 400,000 on it now! Auto though but my MIL loves it which is what it’s all about! Sadly the low range is the crappy 1.19:1 - but at least it’s got one as it allows you to swap in the L series low...

Whoops - 1985 MY wagon addition!
I’m not sure how this “keeps” happening. Anyway, this happened today after stumbling across it in a wrecker’s yard last week! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q70/923/ENDSuE.jpg I always thought these MY models ended in 1984 with exception to the Brumby that continued onto 1991. This one is...

Re: Brumby torsion bar
If that bush in the outer end of the torsion bar is worn out you might be able to detect some play where the swing arm attaches. I dare say you’d need to use some leverage to get it to move and expose any lateral movement. Also check your bump stops are still in place. If theses are missing it’ll be...
