Death of my Gen2Lib? Advice Wanted

In a stupid moment I drove onto the back of a Hilux with a beefy towbar mount. Upside is no damage to hilux, downside is ~$2.5k to repair my Lib which has rego due, 255000ks on it and needs a new clutch + some oil leaks looked at. I've had it for ~2.5yrs and 60000km and spent some $$ replacing the s...

I have had Yoko Cdrives on my GenII Liberty. I have given them a bit of a hard time and not found them wanting other than on fire trails when I worried about punctures. Definitely improved grip over my previous GT's which came with the 2nd hand wheels I bought anyway. I think the Cdrives are a good ...

Because 8.79% larger is 108.79% of the original (100 + 8.79) Percentage is just a way of expressing a multiple of something. To get 100% of something times by 1.0 To get 50% times by 0.5 To get 108.79% times by 108.79 Whether to use time or divide just depends on which way you are trying to make the...

using a calculator

multiply or divide by 1.0879 to get the difference. ie 400 x 1.0879 = 435.16 or 110 / 1.0879 = 101.11 meaning to stick to a 110kmh speed limit you need to drive at 101kmh according to your speedo (assuming it was accurate to begin with) for very easy (and slightly rough) maths try a bit less than 10...

Tough R15's for 2nd Gen Lib

I have 195/60 15 Yokahama Cdrives on my 2nd gen Lib. I can be an aggressive driver but have been happy with the grip they have provided over the 20000k's since they were fitted in Dec last year. But I reckon there is only 10000k left in them. I have given them an occasional hard time on sealed and g...

Got some prices for Yokohamas and am now leaning towards CDrives @ $590. Reading online reviews there are a few criticisms of the Adrenalin's performance in the wet, and my priority is more comfort than outright grip. Those reviews are all over the place, I guess varied expectations are. $126 for mo...

Tyre Reccomendations.

So I need new tyres for my 96Lib Wagon. I've had the springs, shocks and bushes replaced about 10k ago, and with the new bushes it does tend to crash over potholes and even cateyes - guess I should drop the tyre pressures. Point being whilst I tend to give my tyres a hard time I'm actually after som...

+'ve offset - how much is a lot

so my tyres are up for replacement (I have a '96 Gx lib). been looking on ebay for some wheel/tyre combos, found this set of gold WRX rims and tyres - am attracted to the gold as it would look hot with the dark green paint, but the wheels have +53 offset - is that a lot? - clearly I would need to ge...

One thing I have read and heard of consistently abt subys is that they need fresh oil kept up to them, so ask for the service history and look for oil changes at 5000km or not much more. Do the CV test: find a carpark and put the steering on full lock (do both sides), any clicking from front wheels ...

Off road tyres for Gen2 Lib?

So I have 195/60 15's on my Liberty, which is just in the shop getting a lovely new set of shocks and springs. I am not changing the ride height .cos almost all of my driving is round town and I didn't fancy the higher centre of gravity due to my tendency to push hard from time to time. My current t...

how important are bushes?

I am going to get my shocks replaced by my ordinary mechanic. But before I book the job I went to Pedders and paid the $14 for the 28 point check where the convince you to buy a bunch of stuff from them - I was interested in what I might learn. Pedders gave me a price of $550! to replace the front l...

Will it fit? - GenI Lib shocks/springs into GenII and Outback rollbar into Lib

Just wondering if springs/shocks from Gen1 Liberty Auto Wagon will fit into Gen2 Manual wagon. Assuming there is no difference auto/manual. Just asking cos I want to renew the suspension and can get a second hand pedders shocks/springs set for $250. ALSO: Wanting to stiffen up the rear swaybar. Have...

Get Monroe GT Gas, they handle well in Gen 2 liberty. I have Monroe Comfort Gas in mine and I hate them compared to GT Gas, I think they're just too soft. There are other brands such as Pedders, KYB etc Subaru factory struts are KYB in Gen 2 Liberty. Rear Sway is 16mm, I have Outback 19mm sway in m...

Fixed is fine. I'm looking for better handling rather than plush ride, and working on the theory that stiffening up the back will lead to more grip at the front. Wondering - are there GTB sway bars or other stiffer items similar that can be fitted without mods? I'm looking for a medium price option ...
