If you can, get your hands on a Gregorys to help with the finer points. I got all my pistons, gaskets and timing kits from the US. Pistons and rings I got from Thompson Engines on Ebay USA. From memory it cost me about $450 to get two sets of pistons, two complete gasket sets and two full timing kit...

If your going to replace rings and hone cylinders etc you really need to split the block. When honing where do you think all the fine shavings from the cylinder and associated crap goes. You dont need all that fine debris getting into the main bearings ready to throw a spanner in the works a couple ...

Further to the above. If this is your first time take some detailed photos of the engine bay before you start, paying attention to which hose/wire goes where. Will help you later on when putting it all back. Otherwise its pretty straight forward. The main thing to remember is safety first. Disconnec...

Front
Front uni joint going into gearbox maybe. Had similar noise myself and found it to be front uni. Even though your travelling in two wheel drive and the tailshaft is not engaged it will still turn at some speed due to energy forces involved.

As said above check vacuum hoses under bonnet first. These usually are the problem as their subjected to more extremes of heat, cold and grime under the bonnet compared to the internal ones. On drivers side near compliance plate is round white cylinder with vacuum lines attached about 3 or 4 coming ...

Just for future reference even though it is a carpark the road rules do apply. Under the Australian Road Rules a carpark that is open to and used by the public is considered a road related area. Road Rules apply to roads and road related areas. This includes alot of areas that people wouldn't even t...

Good luck with that, I dont see the bank removing money from an account with out alot of checking and follow up with the account holder. You have haggled down the price by $700. Paid money into the bank and have an oral contract. Sven is on the right path with speaking with the owner and maybe conce...

Dont know about WA but in NSW this would meet the criteria of a minor accident ie: no vehicle towed, no person injured, owners swapped details, no person apparantly drunk at time which equals no police involvement. Both owners would be left to fix their own damage. depending on what they have been t...

Yeah I'm hearing you steptoe. But as you say in both your stories you either gave the info anon or wouldn't sign up to make a statement to follow it through into a court which is where it all comes out to play. If you want some action you have to stand up for yourself and not be scared of grubs. It'...

Im guessing that sarcasm aside ALPINE RAVEN was checking whether you actually connected a negative to the body on the jumped car and not the battery and whether you had a surge protector on the leads and may have blown something else besides the fuseable link. But then again I am only guessing.

Needle
Sounds like needle and seat issue. The needle lets fuel into the bowl where the float is, it is located under the end of the float where it is hinged. Im guessing that the needle is sticking and when the bloke tapped it while out on the dunes it has freed it up a bit and returned to normal fuel flow...
