OH NO! It's doing it again! I'm no longer tearing hair, I'm now pounding the bonnet with both fists! Ok. Logic eventually said to ring a Subaru mechanic. We don't have one of those in my town. If we did he'd have had my car months ago. I spoke to a head mechanic in a Suby dealership in another town ...

Just got the Brumby back from the garage. Yep. It was the fuel lines and a tank half full of sludge. Two new fuel filters and she's back to flying low.
Thanks again everyone.
Ross.

G'day everyone, Thanks for all the suggestions. My Brumby is now at the mechanics with a list of all you have suggested. He is going to start with blowing out the fuel lines and continue from there if needed. This is a great forum for those of us who love our Subarus but who have very limited mechan...

Thanks fellas, The dizzy was checked along with the timing a couple of times over the last few months, but, the coil wasn't checked to my knowledge. I never gave that a thought. I'll renew the coil in a few days time and hopefully that will fix the problem. I'll also get my mechanic to have a look a...

Tearing hair!

'89 Brumby. 324,000k's. Original engine. No smoke and doesn't use oil. It has had, over the last few months, new plugs, new plug leads. A complete carby overhaul and timing checks. New fuel lines and new fuel filters and it has a bad problem that I can't remedy. It's an intermittent problem. It just...

No Reverse

Thanks for your advise. The gearshift isn't sloppy at all and the ute hasn't been lifted. It is strictly standard. I'll have a look underneath as suggested and check that bolt and nut. Sounds like that could be the culprit. This is my first Subaru. It has just on 240 thousand kilometres on its origi...

No reverse

I have an '89 Brumby. I can't get reverse in low range 4x4, but, can get it in high 4X4 and in normal driving.
Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong?
Do you have to replace both Cv'S at a time? It seems the left one is knocking a bit but the right seems fine.
Thanks fellas
Ross
