A question for the likes of anti bullbar lobbyist Harold Scruby - what are pedestrians doing in front of a moving car for anyway ? Getting run over, presumably. I think there is a lot of potential to tweak the laws concerning vehicle use in urban and city areas, the change the culture of pedestrian...

What do others think of reinforcing the rials that the tie down points attach to. You could remove them then weld in sections of plate along that section of the chassis rail, then the points will have a much stronger base to bolt to... This is what is in my head for my "one day" plans. Try and back...

The prob i can see with a frankenbrumby is , more costly parts. With a basicly standard gen2 wagon ( clean and tidy, may be a set of after market wheels , some one may have in shed. Or a set of wheels off another model that looks good on the car ) , the parts are easy to find. Eg, car part outs and...

I know my number plate is not a knife in waiting! I agree whole heartedly. Although, having said that, motorcycles used to have front numberplates. They stopped that because they *were* a knife in waiting. Although if you look at the below photo of my grandfather in the 1930s on his triumph, maybe ...

Snatching would put more strain and load on a tow bar than winching right? Yes and no. The physics are rather complicated. When you snatch, your put a very strong force on the attachment for a quite short amount of time. Just how short is dependant on several factors, like the weighs of the vehicle...

This sounds like a great idea. I am sure the ausubaru community would get onboard. This type of project though always lives or dies with a core group of two or three willing to see it through on their own if need be. As you said, organising is the hard/long part. Ideally someone would need space (so...

I've got a small winch on my "L". Came on a bullbar from a parts car. My "one day" list definitely includes a custom bar and more powerful winch. The reason though that people don't do it a lot (apart from lack of space) is that without big chunky sold chassis rails to bolt to, you are always going ...

New number plates are an aluminium alloy. They are certainly more fire resistant than plastic plates, but a properly hot fire (like a car left to burn without anyone trying to put it out) will still burn them easily. Mag wheels, window glass, etc will all burn or melt pretty easily in a car fire. Th...

first off whats a bridle? Wondered that myself. After some googling, it appears to be a term taken from the bridle used on a horse. In the 4wd world it appears to be used for a strap used to pull from both of the attachment points on the front of a vehicle (particularly useful when neither point is...

I down loaded it after reading this post yesterday. Looks pretty good to me. It seemed a bit light on round the Canberra region (where I am), however I don't need to know where the local spots are... So I added a few of my favs, and hopefully that will earn me some khama when I am using it to try an...

Is that a dig? Because I see no problem with owning half a dozen (or more) subarus each  The only problem I can see is working out which one to drive! Cheers Bennie Not at all. But I thought having three subies in the drive at one was a lot (even if one was a parts car), until I saw some p...
