Congrats purp  Thanks! I'm a little frazzled right now from the changes to my sleeping patterns. That will be my excuse for typos or stupid questions for a while. ;) I've been informed by the minister for war and finance that I can't do "anything too silly" to the foz, as it is the "reliab...

I am also interested in what people have to say about this. I recently bought a 09 auto forester (as a family car, as our first was born 6 days ago). We have a camper trailer (the tent type) and have previously pulled it with the trusty old "L" without any trouble, but only on shorter trips and not ...

Simple way out of it - shorten the tailshaft on one car as much as possible so that this setup becomes the 4 rear wheels and then run another engine and box in FWD mode for the front 2 wheels. Might be a bit more fabrication to set up initially but will be mechanically much better and more reliable...

Sooo, how do you plan to drive the rearmost set of wheels? For that matter, how does the drive train work on any six wheel drive?

Awesome plan by the way, best of luck.

Not funny exactly, but a mate (in the ACT) has the same plate on his hilux and on his bike. I never knew that they would issue the same plate to two separate vehicles, even different types.

A friends 'cruiser had one with the little pics of a car on the dial. Somehow, through some spirited driving, the little dial had "flipped" so he little picture of the car was on its roof.... Those in car compasses never seem to have any shielding, and only seem to give direction accurate to about 9...

Every time we get a new car we get a massive hail storm. In this case, a 2009 Forester we picked up a couple of weeks ago.

When I was a kid my Mum drove a Mitsubishi 4wd van with a good solid steel bullbar. She collected a massive 'roo one night. Bent the bullbar substantially, all the way back to do minor pannel damage to the front of the vehicle. There was no shock damage to anything else though. From friends experien...

I won't have the money for that sort'a mod any time soon (currently expecting a child, and I hear there are expensive :( )

Although I am thinking of keeping the L wagon as a weekend toy, so maybe some home work might be in order.

Went for some bashing round Bungongo State Forrest on the weekend (in quite a lot of rain and mud). The old girl held up, only stuck once, and was steep enough I managed to roll back out and have another go. Some pretty deep water made it on top of the engine and cause it to run on three cylinders f...
