Nobody from here. I had a couple of enquiries, but unfortunately no one was in Melbourne, so it made delivery a bit hard. I did however find out that it's possible to buy a car from Melbourne and drive it interstate on a temporary registration from VicRoads though. You can get a permit for up to 28 ...

It's done 250K, but I believe it's the 2nd engine (an EA82). For a RWC, it would need new front tyres (the rear are pretty new). All brake pads have been done in the last 6 months. It might need some new bushes... and probably new rubber boots around the drive shafts. I guess it depends on the mecha...

Cheap L Series in Melbourne
There's a cheap L Series for sale in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. It's parked in my driveway! After all the help you guys have given me over the years, I've decided to offer it really cheap here before it goes to the online sites. AUSubaru price $450. (I'll add a couple of hundred to it when I...

So far I've just wired a "temporary" switch direct from the battery and setup a new earth lead from the blower.... "just to get me out of trouble." It's dodgy, but at least I used an inline fuse! To make matters even more dodgy, I cable tied the actuators closed so that the air no longer goes to the...

Yeah, I was thinking there has to be some resistor for the different fan speeds, but I've got no idea what it looks like, or how I could test or replace it. I was under the impression that when the fan is on full speed, the resistor is bypassed (the fan doesn't work on "4"), but I don't have much of...

92' L Series Heater Blower
G'day all, I'm having a hiccup with the blower motor in my 92 L Series wagon. After a hot day a couple of weeks ago, I restarted the car after a short break and popped the two 15amp "heater" fuses. I inspected all the wiring and found two wires had shorted out under the clutch pedal, which I cut out...

It looks like I'm going to get away with replacing the tensioner without removing the middle cover... but it's good to know how to remove the pulley for when the other side goes. I think I'd prefer locking everything up and just using my 600mm jack handle. Knowing me, using the starter motor would j...

Removing crankshaft pulley (L-Series)
Hey all, Okay, so I decided to try replacing the cam belt tensioners myself. First hiccup... The manual says move the flywheel to top centre and insert a "suitable" instrument to hold it while you remove a 107nm bolt on the crank pulley! I had a good look, and I really can't see how you can attach a...

Front brake shims (L-Series)
Hey everyone, I'm getting a nice little rattling sound whenever I go over a bump in my 92 L-Series wagon... and after finding a loose inner steering arm joint, worn sway bar bushes, I think I've pin pointed it to be the brake shim, which is noticably loose. As far as I can tell, they have been insta...

I gave Subaru a try... they needed my VIN number to look it up, but at least found the part. Unfortunately there are none left in Victoria! But it would be $190.00 if they had one. I'm gunna take some time off work and tour a few wreckers next week... hopefully there will be something useable out th...

Just got off the phone with Bursons... same story, they only sell tie rod ends... not the tie rod itself. They'll sell me a steering rack for $700, but that's probably more than the car is worth! It seems anytime I go for new parts, I draw a complete blank when I say "92 L Series 4WD wagon." If anyo...

When you say inner ball joint I'm guessing you're talking about the one on the steering rack? That ball joint would have to come with the tie rod as a unit. I've never seen or heard of these joints letting go completely but with enough wear and tear anything is possible. Hope this is down the road ...
