What thread does the bung have on it? Where mine is I could happily use a T piece of sorts. Well, it's not a T but a bit of hex bar with a male threaded piece on one end, a threaded hole on the other and a threaded hole in one side so it'd screw in easily. As long as the side hole is facing the righ...

anyone? Anyway I just dug up the remains of the pressure sender from the Magna, bodged it to the pressure gauge I have, applied power and some pressure from the compressor. Just deadheading it caused the sender to fly off from the hose quite spectacularly, but sitting the air gun in the other end of...

i just went to look again. There is a bung at the bottom near the oil filter. is that the one? I couldn't see another one.

Yes I took the photo with the motor running. It was already running to let the battery charge and to dry things out.

I should refresh before I reply. Didn't see those useful replies. Sorry! However it looks like the sender is in a completely different location. I'm not sure a "T" would fit in there. But, those long adapters i mentioned might fit if the thread is right. i saw them at the VDO shop last year or so. I...

Well, it looks like there is. But the second one's position is pretty useless.

Fitting an oil pressure sensor to EA81

G'day. I think this falls in this section more then electrical, because what I want to know how to do is the mechanical part. What I want to know is what is the best way to fit an electronic oil pressure sender and have an idiot light still? Also what is the correct dia. and thread for whatever? tap...

So just for the sake of it I glued the magnet back together the best I could and filled the missing bits more or less with a JB Weld knockoff. The magnetic pickup tool when I wave it around seems to say that the field is more or less right. I tried it and nothing happened. I had the prongs gapped ri...

Yeah. Me too. I had another look and it's really bad. Cracked into multiple pieces and a couple of small bits utterly pulverised. So... Where can I find a magnet?

Say.. You know that bit of pressed plate steel which has the prongs which go up parallel to the "ratchet wheel" trigger? that thing directly under it wouldn't happen to be a magnet would it? that thing which has split into a few pieces with one piece that seems to move around, sometimes touching its...

haven't had a chance to re-measure. Been very busy. Interesting thing has always happened. If it has been sitting for a while, like a week + when I try to crank it for the first revolution of the motor one of the cylinders bogs really hard. I had a Ford which did the same thing. In the case of the F...

Condensors go with points, too high and they burn on one side, too low rating burns the other side of the points. Get it right and points last longer. No, use it as a key ring fob or something while using electronic dizzy Makes sense. But melted points pivot insulator and distributor cap is bad new...

Tried again today. Started first go. On the old distributor the insulation on the points pivot pin had melted. That's why it was sitting crooked. They were brand new too! Do the electronic distributors need a condenser? I just want to be sure that I'm not leaving out something vitally important on t...

Well, it seems to run alright now. Not entirely sure what I did to cause that. Fuel pressure is a steady 2PSI. In maybe 20 minutes of idling I heard it miss once which is really pretty amazing considering. It has its power back, which is good. The wiring is a horrific mess and the coil is sitting on...

The Hitachi is crap so I pulled it out ages ago. It's got a Holley Economaster on there (Weber DFEV more or less). And I have the Holley regulator dialed down as far as it will go. I wish I was using a stock Subie pump. I have one and it used to be my pump in the beetle then ended up in the camper, ...

I am seriously starting to suspect that a fuel issue coincidentally developed when I started switching distributors. Because I haven't been able to get out to do anything to it I've had a lot of time to think about this. The most recent reason is that I could only get it to start with the electronic...

It's been a bit busy. Sorry. I measured the dipstick proper. Ie the long piece of metal from tip to tip. Not the plug / handle section it is riveted to. The total length is roughly 33.6cm When I measured it I noticed the oil was slightly over full. Not like way up the dipstick but a few mm. Unless t...

Now that you mention it... When I got the engine it had its juices drained for shipping. I gave it a new filter and oil. I vaguely recall thinking the level was too low for the amount put in it and attributed it to human error. I'm afraid this motor is a bit mysterious. What really gets me is the oi...
