Its a form of passivation using chromates, The older stuff like MY and Ls were probably using hexavalent chromium (because of nasties which now not used around the world) Trivalent chromium is now widely used. The colour of the passivate can be chosen. I have found it is really difficult to find pla...

Tow bar!

Fitted a new tow bar, well not actually new. It was the original supplied with the car. I had the bar itself galvanized, the tongue powder coated, the ball re-chromed and replaced any fasteners that were beyond re-plating. Also found a nice rubber cover for the ball when not in use. http://i806.phot...

I agree, I want it but its not worth that no matter what. Its not stock by any stretch and lets face it - There were no AUSDM 89MY 4WD Royale sedans! and the body side mouldings removed and filled. But for what he/she is asking is a bit rich. Hell I have the bits here ready to go for a FWD -> 4WD co...

Hey steptoe there are no optical illusions or trickery with my pics or slugs, The block was inverted when I took the pics for cleaning purposes:o To my knowledge the second owners changed the block (therefore engine # from original) due to overheating or whatever but all the extra "spares" supplied ...

LED in Bezel so cant buff the surface unfortunately, though good thinking Gannon. Those chromed LED bezels can be seperated easily, I used pull them apart to use my own preferred waterclear LED's as well as diffusing there output as per Gannon's suggestion. As for mentioning J@#$%r, I used to work ...

The old rubbers were not cracked just deformed and could be reused. But since KYB supply new units with the their dampers it would be best to use them. That s...

New rear King n KYBs for L wagon

After about 3 months of ordering parts, collecting spares, powder coating and what not - I have finally got around to replacing the ageing rear springs/dampers. The opportunity finally came to buy a pair of KYB 341065 rear dampers - and at a great "make an offer" buy price from a Fleabay seller! The...

Thanks for that guys. So it worked out well for the both of you. The Swap option is worth consideration if not just chasing cash.

Now for that prize rear LSD, are you gonna replace the pinion mount bush?

Nice :) Im surely not the only curious person, so I will ask first: Where did you score what appears to be a genuine L series/MY CLSD? and how much. Do you know history (if rebuilt etc). Also if you can carefully remove enough of that silly black paint can you post the part# on the sticker for our p...

Door/courtesy light circuit uses multiple earth paths, As tambox might be suggesting, ignore the LED test lamp. As a start: Remove each pin switch and test off car with DMM for clear break in continuity, ie 0.05 ohms or less with given switch closed - infinite with open state. If all good then clean...
