I'm thinking about replacing a small coolant hose that kinda goes under the alternator. It's a funny shape with a few bends in it. Only thing is, I only have a straight length of hose. Does anyone know the piece I mean and do you reckon I can just persuade the straight bit to fit? I'm worried it mig...

Are good used ones easy to find? I can't imagine what a new one would be worth if they're available.

Brumby brake master cylinder leak

Hi all I can see evidence of brake fluid leaking from the master cylinder in my 1987 Brumby. It's hard to see where it's coming from but it has been gathering around the join to the servo and running down. Not a large amount but don't wanna leave it too long. Is there a common place for these to lea...

Another milestone

Thought I'd share this special moment with you all

When I pulled over to take the pic, a mate from work was a few cars in front and, thinking I'd broke down, turned round to help!

Awesome! I have a spare Brumby clock but I don't think it works. I got it to replace my current one which also doesn't work.
I showed my wife this and she didn't seem too keen!

Well, finally got the manifold off today. Can't believe how much it resisted every step of the way. Took all manner of prying, pulling, hitting, drilling, swearing and generally questionable antics. Now I'm left with 2 partially destroyed bolts protruding from the heads but I'm hoping (and praying) ...

Just an update on this... I started yesterday and managed to get 3 bolts out. I snapped the heads off 2 others and one came out about 20mm but now just turns without coming out (but will go back in). It's still pretty tight. I didn't manage to get the manifold itself off, presumably because the snap...

Hi guys I went into the abyss yesterday to try and restore some light and this is what I found on the back of the instrument cluster..... http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii41/thedaviddawson/Facebook/The%20Brumby/IMG_00251.jpg Seems I was a bit rough on the re-install. I scraped off some of the gr...

Thanks guys, I did actually scratch the back of the cluster refitting so I've probably damaged the circuit. This might be a stupid question but..... There used to be a conductive paint you could use to repair heated windows. If I have scratched the circuit, could this work to repair it? Just a thoug...

Instrument Cluster lights MY

Hi I have a problem with the instrument cluster lights in my '87 Brumby. Basically, they no longer come on with the headlights. The problem started after I went in to try and fix an intermittent gauge / warning light issue. I'm not sure how but I ended up with the gauges / warning lights working but...

EA81 Inlet Manifold Gaskets

Hi everyone As the title suggests, I'm looking to replace the inlet manifold gaskets on my Subaru. It's a 1987 Brumby, EA81. I know I'm likely to be in for some bolt snappage and I just wanna gather some general info before I start taking it apart. Not sure exactly when I'll be tackling it but I wan...

Just for info I went here and they are now called 'All Drive' or something similar. They are still Subaru specialists and still were happy to look at my Brumby (only problem is I have been advised to replace inlet manifold gaskets but that's another story). As someone new to SA I'd still be keen to ...

Hitachi carb power valve

Hi everyone Can anyone explain to me what a power valve does and what the symptoms might be if it wasn't working properly? I'm on the brink of taking my Brumby to get someone to have a look at it as I can't get to the bottom of an ongoing issue with the carb since I rebuilt it. This is the original ...

I just moved to Adelaide and I'd heard good things about Rising Sun. I was planning on taking the Brumby to see if they could get to the bottom of my ongoing carb issue. This is bad news.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has any other places to recommend.

I've seen factory workshop manuals crop up on ebay every now and again but not that often. Like the ones that a dealership might use for servicing etc. You might just have to keep an eye out and hope you get lucky. Someone on this forum may have bought one and be able to photocopy bits?
