Sell 1989 Subaru L series wagon, 3" lift, 27s, ea82/dual range box

G'day, I am in a position where the little Subaru which has taken me away on many great journeys is no longer big enough to fit the family. My neighbor has offered me a dual cab Rodeo at a good price so I'm offering this for sale. I've always maintained her, oil changed every 10k, new radiator a yea...

A few EJ into L series questions...

I've had a bit of a look around on here and am still keen to know a couple of things about converting my L series to an EJ20 turbo. I'm planning on doing all of the work myself and need to sort out a few details so that I can work out a budget for the project. The engine is a 1999 model and comes wi...

1989 L series white paint code??

G'day, I'm getting some paint mixed up in the morning for my 1989 L Series wagon. It was built in Feb 1989. The paint code seems to be missing. Just wondering if anyone can clarify whether the colour I need is Arctic White 982? Thanks legends.

Gen 2 Liberty info wanted

G'day, I'm looking into upgrading our clagged VP wagon for a 95 to 98 Gen 2 Liberty wagon. I've searched and come up with little regarding specs etc. Did they all come with dual range? What's the difference between an LX and GX? It will need to have power front windows, good cold air and remote cent...

Thanks for the advice guys. The benefit of going to a road tyre is also the lower cost I guess. I'll look into some 205/65s. You're right about lifted cars looking ridiculous if the tyres are too low in the profile.

Which tyres for city/beach driving?

G'day, I've done a search and found a few threads on tyres. I've got an L series with 3" body lift and 27s (was for sale a while ago but decided to keep it). It needs tyres so I'm wondering on others opinions. I do a lot of city driving and I find the 27s make the gearing a bit tall, especially when...

How to correct speedo when larger tyres fitted??

I'm planning on lifting my L series (finally) in the next couple of months. Before I do I just thought I'd look into converting my speedo so that it's still accurate. Has anyone done this either with manufactured kit or something made at home? I'd rather not just use whiteout on the dial. Cheers, Ma...

Thanks mate, problem's fixed. I never knew what that switch was for! I must have accidentally switched it on when I was cleaning the interior yesterday. I feel so stupid!

Problem fixed!

G'day crew. I went to drive my L series to work yesterday and the battery was flat, not totally but not enough to crank the thing. I had a look over the car and found that the parkers are staying on even when the ignition and headlight switches are both in the off position. Is this just a sticky rel...

That's what I'm worried about. I've already got the wheels/tyres for the car and I'd rather go the 3" lift but I've heard that any higher than 2" is illegal. I don't want my insurance to be void if they find out I've done this. May as well not bother insuring at all.

Insurance on lifted L series?

Just wondering who people go through to insure their lifted L series. I'm wanting to go the usual 3" with 14s and 27x8.5s and want 3rd Party because it's a daily driver. Thanks, Marty.

How much for an EJ20 motor and box?

G'day, I was just wondering how much an EJ20 motor and box would be worth. I'd imagine that there would be a few in wreckers these days from 1990s model Imprezas and the like. I wouldn't mind putting one in my car some day, wouldn't want to pay too much though. Thanks, Marty.

I think I'm just expecting too much out of an 18 year old carby motor. As long as it's reliable I think I will just learn to live with the engines imperfections.

I checked the cam timing and everthing is fine. The plugs and timing are good, when I got the car I wound the timing up until it pinged and then backed it off until it didn't (my technique on all my cars). There's no vacuum leaks. The previous owner tampered around with the vacuum lines that run bet...

Why doesn't my EA82 run right?

G'day, I've done around 5000km in my L wagon in the last 6 months or so since buying it. It drives ok and is reliable but the engine isn't smooth and surges as you accelerate. I've wound the timing up a bit which helped make a bit more power. It is a slug down low and you really have to rev the ****...

I had the same problem with my L series when I had the interior out for wiring my stereo. I traced the problem to two holes in the floor under the lower section of the back seat. They are sealed from factory with vinyl which is glue to the floor pan. The glue on both had deteriorated causing the wat...
