Ok I think I understand now - I cant look at the car right now - but it isnt likely to be anything major eh? The engine seems to run ok. Would it be a bit reckless to not address the problem causing the error? just a faulty sensor? the engine is going in my wagon sometime. I guess i should identify ...

I had a smiliar problem on my L series, it turned out to be the dimmer switch on the steering column - it was all gunked up inside and not maker proper contact. I took the steering wheel off and cleaned it all out and that fixed it.

ECS Warning light

Does anyone know what the ECS Warning light on the dashboard of an EA82T eqipped L series sedan refers to? (Its one of the red warning lights on the right hand side of the steering column). I'm sure its not major - just a faulty sensor or something?

Loved the vids & pics of the Rally spec RX's
Maybe a stupid question but does anyone know roughly how many road spec RX's were sold in Australia?

yeah well i'm not sure how the EA82T that i'm looking at has been driven or serviced, I was just a little curious if people had noted a significantly shorter lifespan of the EA82Ts compared with the non-turbo before needing serious rebuilding

Yeah well it really does and thats got me the most confused. The noise fully dissapears when the car has had time to heat everything up - after driving at speed for 10-15 minutes sound is gone. I might look into replacing both shafts and joints, especially since a EA82T conversion is on the cards

I tried using really thin syntheitc oil - mobil 1 i think, but it had no lasting effect and used way to much! and boy did it smoke on downhill runs. Oil pump seals are the only way to go in my book - still rattles on startup but thats coz i use a thick oil to minimise consumption and smoke.

Longevity of EA82T

I know of many examples of standard EA82s performing well past the 300,000km mark, as my own is, but I was wondering how many k's you guys with EA82Ts have covered - I'm considering an EA82 conversion, how long can expect one thats covered already 200,000kms to last? Does the turbo significantly red...

I'm really not sure, they were done before I was interested in maintaining the car myself. Ist it general practice to replace both at teh same time? Would that explain why the noise dissapears after the car has warmed up after 10 - 15 mins of driving?

L-series driveline noise

My L 5psd dual range wagon has a really weird driveline 'clunking' noise not dissimilar to that of the noise worn out CVs. Most experience i've had with worn out CVs the 'clunking' noise is evident when turning sharp corners, such as going round a roundabout or something. With mine it is there drivi...
