Suspension Mod to Fit 27" on L
G'day,
I'm sure I've read somewhere here or heard that you can mod a front suspension component, so that 27" tyres won't rub on the front of an L series.
Does anyone know what that is?
Are they available anywhere? Or easy enough to do yourself?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

steering vibration when braking
I've got an '89 Lseries touring wagon MPFI manual with 3" lift. When I brake I get quite violent shudders or vibrations through the steering wheel. They are worse when braking from higher speeds. Doesn't come through the brake pedal. I've replaced all the bushes in the front suspension with urethane...

MPFI Won't Start, Fuel?
Just put my EA82 MPFI back together (blown head gasket/cracked head). It won't start. I feel it may be lack of fuel. If I pull the fuel in line off there seems to be a build up of pressure and there is fuel there. But no fuel in the return line. If I dribble a bit of fuel down the throttle body it s...

Replacing Head Gasket EA82
I have an EA82 MPFI with a blown head gasket. Mechanics are quoting me upwards of $1000 to fix it. I was intending to replace just the blown side (determining by compression test) and not replacing the timing belt (as I have just replaced them less than 10 000km ago). As far as I can see from the ma...

Hasn't slipped off and I clamped on the grooves where they sit, so it shouldn't be stretched. Didn't really think of the cheap quality thing. Just bought them from the local parts shop which I've got stuff from before and they have a good reputation. But now I've looked at the box and the brand is '...

new cv boot torn
Just fitted a new driver's side inner CV boot (to my '89 L series MPFI with 3" lift) on the weekend and after two days normal driving its torn again! Could I have done something wrong when I fitted it ? I wouldn't have thought so as I had no problems fitting it. Could something be loose that may rub...

Even though bubbles in the radiator is usually a sure sign, don't be too keen to jump to the diagnosis of a blown head gasket. I thought I had done a head gasket but persevered with it and eventually found out it was a small hole in the radiator that only opened up when hot and closed when it cooled...

Job done!
Yes, the gaskets were the right ones and I've fitted them. The job looked a bit daunting at first but the the whole inlet manifold and fuel lines came off as one unit, after disconnecting the clutch cable, accelerator cable, a few hoses, wires, blah blah blah and that metal pipe that goes down into ...

correct inlet manifold gasket ?
Hey, just went and bought the inlet manifold gaskets and they don't look right to me (I haven't pulled the manifold off the engine yet though!). Each gasket has one hole for the inlet port and one hole for the coolant. It appears to me that that would be for the carburettor version not the MPFI. Whe...

Ah yes thanks suparoo! It is that hole that lets water drain away from the spark plug. There's a cast manifold that seems to run from the thermostat housing (on the other side if the motor) over to the passenger side. It sits next to and behind the inlet manifold. The heater hose also comes of this ...
