Unqualified work on cars.
Unqualified welding and mechanical work and legal issues, Inexperienced and unqualified welding and mechanical jobs including on suspension components on all sorts of vehicles including Subaru’s. If you are the only one using the car you can possibly escape any recriminations but if you are doing we...

Throwing out an old computer and found this link to a STI badged ute, not how I'd do it as a few loads or rough roads might see the rear suspension start to flex and crack out, but interesting all the same. Hope there was a drain hole in it somewhere to let the rain out. http://htautos.co.uk/8.html ...

Buy a copy of the "Dogs and Lemons Guide" from the newsagent. It has nearly every car you can think of in it with a write up and fuel consumption guide as well. I bought the wife a IS Lexus and it is the best car I've ever owned or driven and I've had plenty. It's even suprisingly good on fuel, in a...

Old holdens just had a light for the temp if they overheated, if the coolant and thermostat are not too old and your still worried, maybe put a temp warning light on it as well. It gets your attention quicker than remembering to look at the guage all the time and much cheaper than a new whatever get...

Got used to the idea that Subaru's don't build torquey motors or ultra strong gearboxes, probably because of their short stroke/large bore ratio motors. Modded one of my bikes up to 1800cc (approx 1:1 bore/stoke ratio), even it produces more torque than a EJ20. The motor out of a big lump like a Tri...

I looked at doing something like what your doing and decided against it and everybody's different which is a good thing. If you after 1/4 results, I'm not sure but a friend said if you get to the 11 sec bracket you can't go back on the track without a full roll cage, not sure how true it is but it m...

Just read your post. Been working on cars for over 30 years as well and finishing a mechanical engineering degree at the moment. I stand by what I've written. My thoughts were, if your doing that much work, it might by a better performance return for your time and money to build something simular in...

Reverse
Try driving a two stroke bike up a hill, stalling it then roll starting it backwards going back down. It will make boost in reverse in a car feel tame. Guaranteed to entertain.

BORE AND STROKE RATIO !!!!!! To fit the boxer Subaru motor between the chassis rails the bore is enlarged and the stroke shortened to get the required motor capacity. Short stroke large bore motors are poor on torque, it comes down to how far the big end bearing is from the crank centre. Imagine win...

Bore/stroke ratio fellas, Subaru motors generally are short stroke and big bore = lack of low end torque but good Kw with revs. Torque is twisting force, so the further out from the centreline of the crank the big end bearing is the more torque/twisting force it has, but this makes it throw a larger...

Please try not to get confused by what is a SOHC and DOHC. Above each cylinder there is no cam = pushrod, one cam = SOHC, or two cams= DOHC. The first letter denotes the number of cams which would be above the cylinder if it was in a vertical alignment, OHC is over head cam, as above each cylinder, ...

From my limited knowledge stick with a manual drive train, the auto will only fit with a lot of body work (time and $). Use a SOHC motor (EJ20 or EJ22) (DOHC are wider, same block, bigger heads) then the chassis rails do not need to be cut for the motor to fit, less work and $ for engineers etc, che...

Not sure what your doing Nitrida. Think of how strong a piece of cardboard is (flat piece), when it is made into a box, it is much stronger ie milk carton. The rear end of a Forester is like a box. Using only the floorpan is like cutting off the top 2/3 of the box and still expecting it to be as str...

After watching this, it makes the effort of fitting the auto possibly worth it.
