Thanks tony, some good suggestions there. Im well versed with the use of wine casks, I use them a lot for kayak and bushwalk trips, the house wine tip is a good one. I agree about the CV stuff, pretty unlikely to catastrophically fail out of the blue. Have serviced the car now. New rocker cover gask...

Last night pulled a few other leads, looks like my plug tubes seals need doing. A fair amount of oil in 3 of the 4. Glad I had a loo...

Bumping this up with my learnings from a bit of reading. Was looking to repalce the plugs in my 2000 Forester (EJ202) and noticed the owners manual specified different gaps for different plugs, I couldn't quite work this out. After closer inspection I discovered the different gapping was for cars wi...

Androzic (Android Navigation)

Was about to buy OziExplorer for Android and then tried this free application. It is really good, I have paired it up with the hema 2008 map pack (there may just be a torrent floating around?) and it looks like the goods. Currently just using it on my phone but would be amazing on a tablet. Will be ...

All good mate. Some of the rounded iphones had issues with headphone jacks plugging all the way in due to the rounded surface, some work better then others. You can normally pick up these fantastic peices of technology at $2 shops or for less than $5 on ebay. Auto stores seem to always charge like w...

Freebies - VAG COM Cables

Ive got 2 Vagcom cables here. Bought them a while back to try and use FreeSSM with my Forester before I discovered it wasn't compatible with my model. One is like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171025456852?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 and one like this http://www.ebay.com.au/...

Big West -> East trip

Planning a bit of a drive leaving in 2 weeks time. Rough plan at this stage is Perth - Karijini - Great Central Road - Uluru - Oodnadatta Track - Lake Eyre - Strezleki Track - Camerons Corner - Sydney (ish) Depending on road conditions I may reduce the amount of dirt as I have a fairly tight schedul...
