I have the same key in my '02 WRX.

The remote can be programmed at home, I have done two other remotes for backup.

The transponder chip for the immobiliser can only be done by Subaru.

Almost 23 thou doesn't sound like a lot but it can be . Some of the rubber mounts for those bearings can be pretty soft and still transmit a surprising amount of vibration . Time will tell . He said .22mm, not 23 thou. Make sure you have the universals phased correctly (front to rear) on reassembly.

You go to have a front control arm bush replaced and now you have a noise in the back?

Did they replace the FRONT control arm REAR bush?

Or did they replace the REAR control arm FRONT bush?

New to the turbo scene?

What's your aim with the BOV?

If you want the sound of a non-plumbback valve, and you have an airflow meter, you'll get black smoke on throttle liftoff.

You are far better off with a full plumbback.

The reason for the cracks is, it is the weakest point in the chamber for the interference fit of the valve seat inserts. The compression loss may be low, but the risk of a valve seat coming out is high. I wouldn't be using them as is. The heads need to be hardness tested to see if they are repairable.

I replaced the front O2 sensor in a 06 Liberty on Friday. No codes, surging at 1/4 throttle at 2500 rpm and low power throughout the whole rpm band. Subaru calls the front O2 sensor the A/F sensor, for good reason. The car is now completely different, very driveable, no surging, and good torque and ...

Pete, Congrats to your son. My advice is if he likes cars and shows the aptitude for it, then encourage him to follow a motor mechanic apprenticeship first. When he qualifies, he can then decide to stay as a motor mechanic or get into diesel. It is a lot easier to be a mechanic first, motor mechanic...

0.50 is 1/2mm.

1mm is 0.040 inch (40 thou),or 39.37 thou to be exact.

If you good with a welder, 8 short runs across the side gears shouldn't create too much heat.

Alternate the welds from side to side, 8 all up until you're done.

To replace any component that is near the timing belt, ( idlers, tensioner assembly, water pump, or any seal) you're doing a timing belt job and the belt has to come off.

Generally, any engine when overheated loses ring tension.

I've pulled engines down where the rings can be wound up like a pretzel and still not break.

Effectively they are just like a piece of ordinary non-spring steel wire that can't exert tension within the cylinder.

I'm doing another motor at the moment for a fellow member, a factory dual carb engine. It will get a small Tighe cam 260 degrees, .400 valve lift, new standard bore ring set, very light hone of the bores, some original crosshatch still visible, and some reasonably worked heads. Spend your money in t...

Unlikely all 4 are preventing from starting.

If the engine doesn't keep running in some form after the aerostart has depletted,
more than likely you have no injector pulse.

5 studs give it away in the front.

I want to know what you have done to the rear end, since by your pics, the rear has zero rear camber.

Personally I would never fit wheels and tyres like that if I was intending on ANY off-road activity.

The tyre construction will prove that.

Each to their own.

Bad criticism can be taken as good advice.

I have a club spec evo 5.

The early evo's are the same engine, with about 5 more kw.

I wouldn't be doing just a headgasket.

Either rebuild your engine and/or possibly the turbo, or fit another healthy engine.
