i had this exact same problem with my brumby. would you believe it was the tailshaft??!! it was. is it there when you rev it over 3k in neutral? put it on a hoist and get someone to rev it. it sounds like its coming from further up the front but touch the tailshft and its gone. it had a loose uni, s...

have a look at the flywheel, if its got any hotspots, grooves or an uneven surface, get it on the mill. small surface cracks are generally ok. as others have said, warranty is void if you cant produce an invoice for machining, but if, like me, youve ever tried to claim a clutch on warranty, its just...

i originally fited my 82t to my brumby 4 speed. fitted an l series 5 speed later on. didnt have many problems with the 5 speed other than the shifter setup. used the standard crossmember, didnt have to mod it at all. used the 4 speed mount brackets (elongated the bolt holes) on the 5 speed. box has ...

is this engine going to be forced? if so, intake ports are secondary on any forced inducted engine. just concentrate on getting the air to the port with at least restriction as possible. sure, you can gain some, but any intakes ports flow much more than you would think with a little boost thrown at ...

exhaust ports on the 82 are very similar to the 81, mpfi and turbo intake ports arent much chop either. the 2 ports on each head are different sizes. one is squashed to to clear a water jacket and manifold bolt thread. cant comment on the standard 82 head, never looked at one with much interest but ...

to get the plugs out you will need a 14mm allen key, thay can be real tight. but i dont like your chances of getting the piston pin out with the motor in the car, they are always stuck real good, can be a struggle sometimes even on the bench with a slide hammer. although, every once in a while they ...

I have heads from a 1993 lib on a 1996 wrx bottom end. Give it a go. cheers, just what i wanted to he...

computer is a microtech LT-8, set up with a reluctor type pickup to use a standard ea82 magnetic pickup disy. i fitted and tuned it myself. the computer has its own loom which you cut to fit and hookup to injectors, water temp sender, disy, module and coil. fairly easy install. heads are standard, g...

i broke a couple of std ea82t pistons on different occasions, i was just buying replacement from subaru, not cheap, and then they ran out. the last time i pulled the engine i fitted a set of ea82 aspirated pistons made by acl. they are flat tops with valve reliefs. part no is 4kry7000-std. they are ...

dont do it, just do the ej conversion. i fitted an ea82t to my brumby, requires a little clearancing on the chasis rails, but not much. ive spent more money than i care to mention on mine and its still a slug. well, it goes ok but it aint fast. i ended up with a microtech computer, larger injectors,...
